Nintendo turns Times Square into Wii Sports Resort photo

You know if you live in New York, you get to check out all the cool events Nintendo decides to throw over at the Nintendo World Store (and I'm jealous of people who get to do these things!). Their latest performance will include transforming a part of Times Square into a vision from Wii Sports Resort. This will mean there will be sand, splashing and beachiness. New Yorkers ought to love this (and yes, that is sarcasm dripping from my lips ever so attractively).

Here's what the invite we got looked like:

Nintendo will be transforming New York’s famed Military Island in Times Square into an urban island getaway to celebrate the launch of Wii Sports Resort™ for the popular Wii™ video game console. On July 23, anyone who visits this Manhattan landmark will be able to take a mini “vacation” courtesy of Nintendo, complete with a sandy beach, swimming pool and tropical lounge — all smack dab in the middle of the city — plus a rare chance to play Wii Sports Resort in advance of its official July 26 release date.

This event will take place on July 23rd from 9 AM to 3 PM and is, as one would imagine, open to the public. Tropical drinks will also be served, although they will be non-alcoholic. Nintendo does not support the use of alcohol, you know. That's why Sony parties are always better. You gonna go check this out and have a hangover-free Mai-Tai?

Time Squares is overrated. And so is the price of food.
