Nintendo trademarks 'Zii,' 'Cii,' 'Bii,' 'Oii' and 'Yii' photo

Oh, silly Nintendo. What is it up to this time?

Siliconera has discovered a Japanese trademark for "Zii," which Nintendo filed for use with videogames and other electronic devices. The company filed for the trademark on October 30, but was just released on trademark database.

Before we start speculating (as we often do with Trademarks, because it's fun), Endadget points out that filing may be a renewal of a trademark request from 2006. The company also trademarked "Cii," "Bii," "Oii,"and "Yii"; quite a trademark rampage there.

Mr. Chester, calling Nintendo "Nindo" is just weird, it's Ninty or Nintendo, nobody says "Nindo".

Also, Bii makes me curious.

I kinda like Nindo... If you say it out loud it is like saying Nintendo really fast.

As for the trademarks, it could be to prevent those crappy Wii knockoffs from China...

"Nindo" is totally something. And by something I mean a weird typo.

Zii and Yii are two of the obvious next steps, but I would have thought Xii would come first...

Damn, I knew I should have snatched that shit up the moment they announced the Wii name! Guess I'll have to chalk that up next to "buying a case of Rez" on my list of greatest lifetime regrets.

I think this move mainly done to protect their Wii brand name from those shitty chinese knockoffs that call themselves as a variation of the "-ii" name that you can find at your local CVS.

Huh, their next console probably won't be HD capable, use the same controller, and be just as much as a failure as the Wii. I mean, how long did it take them to recognize that they needed to fix their broken controller accuracy?

"Zii" is going to be a major problem for Creative Labs if that sticks. They've got a processor called that.

My guess is that they're probably new titles for Art Style games for Wiiware and/or DSi.

They should trademark "Oui" for the French console.

I think they're just obsessed with everything ending in "ii." The same way everyone is Utah is obsessed with everything ending in "zz."

Boy do I love it when you guys take something that isn't news, repost it and say "this isn't news or real, but someone else said this so let's get some pageviews and not take any responsibility."

Awesome journalism.
