Oh, sweet. While a new Pikmin would be nice, I at least like confirmation of something outside of Mario and Zelda.
I really need to stop getting my hopes raised for the system. The higher they are the more devastating the dash to the ground in the event of failure will be. If it's awesome and I have no hope for it I'll be pleasantly surprised when it's awesome.

In other news, Sony and Microsoft announced that they will no longer be attending E3, and will in fact be quitting the videogame industry in light of these news. After Pikmin 3 was confirmed, sources from both companies were quoted as saying, "What's the point? THERE'S A PIKMIN GAME ON A TOUCHSCREEN-BASED CONSOLE. Of COURSE we can't top that."
All kidding aside, Cannot be happier that Nintendo are actually talking about this for once. Loved the Gamecube games :D

I feel bad for the people who have patiently waited through out the entire life of the Wii for a new Pikmin game, only to learn that they now have to buy a whole new console to finally play it.
I am ready for the Nintendo (with it Pikmen, Mario, etc) as a whole to go the way of the Dodo. GONE!
The more I am taking a liking to my VITA and seeings' how have not owned a Nintendo console since the GBA/GC days, I really see no need for Nintendo in the gaming industry. Blasphemy! (I know.) But, third parties and Playstation just all seem to have picked up the slack in these past few years (where I have lacked the "modern" Nintendo in my life).
I would not consider my statement a fanboy-ish statement but, I certainly know it is coming from a subjective experience. But at the end of the day, I can really only draw from my own experiences.

I agree with handhelds4ever. If he personally doesn't like Nintendo, then why are they even bothering to stay in the gaming industry? Because they had both the best selling console and handheld of this past generation? Fine, if you even want to call that a reason...
A new Mario in the same style as NSMB seems like a terrible way to show off new hardware, I guess Pikmin will be the go to game for both graphics and touchscreen support.

P.s. I am glad some people seem to be happy just about the thought of a game. It does make me happy that the Nintendo could still do that, because they did make people happy just by announcing a new "Mario" game when I was a child (and sometime before that).
Increasingly, it just seems like Nintendo are undermining the actual risk taking game creators (that work paycheck to paycheck) by putting out stuff like "Wario Ware". Also, any "Mario" title from past to present can be replaced by the various platforming games out there and be enjoyed just the same.
I used to think, "Man look at these colors! Whoa these characters are so adorable! Nothing beat this good ol' time." when I played a Nintendo game. Now, I see stuff like "Pokemon" can be replaced by the "Shin Megami Tensei" series and "Pikmen" can be replaced by something like "New Little Kings Story".

That is partially why I write comments like that with a bit of trepidation but, I still know that if Nintendo as a brand where to no longer exist, that games would still be made and platforms would still be sold. I think the same goes for the other two (heck, even Valve to some extent).

seems like Nintendo is building an amazing line-up of games and is hiring devs who worked on high profile games for HD platforms left and right. i wonder how will look that simracer they're working on given the first bits of news - supposedly it's similar to that old ps2 racer where you were able to design and build your own cars.

Yeah, I was reserved about this system at first, told myself I'd give it a year see what comes out, maybe wait for a price drop. Now I've seen it in action a bit more, found out some software coming out for it and so forth, I need it day one.
As for handhelds4ever, if you're trolling then more power to you but if you're serious then firstly I don't want to start a "you can have an opinion but it's wrong because my opinion is right" match, you can dislike Nintendo and everything they do and that's fine.

@SmithyX I'm not much of a fan of NSMBW but with 25+ million copies sold they'd be crazy not to do it.
Pikmin has me more interested, but it's been in development since 2009 at least. A side scroller Mario could be good, but a 3D Mario in HD would have me more excited as Galaxy 1 & 2 were excellent. Interested, but I'm still pretty far from pre-ordering.
It's awesome that you guys are excited about these games and I hope they turn out as good as you're expecting them to be. It's not enough for me anymore though. I regret buying a Wii. I did so because A) it's nintendo and B) mario. I won't be making that mistake again. I'll buy a Wii U if and only if it demonstrates strong, lasting third-party support this time.
I wonder why everyone's shitting on New Super Mario Bros. I had so much fun with the Wii version. Sure it's boring if you play it alone and it's not as imaginative as SMB3 or even SMW, but the gameplay was good enough to make me play it like 4 times over with friends and family. I'd happily get another one of those
Nintendo here is an old idea, this might sound crazy.... How about new IPs? Everyone have been telling you this for a while now. Do we need to make an intervention episode? After getting that Pikmin puzzle on the 3DS it's about time they made a game. Good for those who were waiting (for a long time) for it.

Most of us will still buy both. Because this is Nintendo, a first party company so good they sell hardware entirely based on their games and usually there games alone. It's extremely hard to deny that Nintendo, basically, make the best games.

New little kings story is a re-imagining of a WII game, with all the originality and charm sucked right out of it.
And if you think Nintendo's franchises outside of Mario would survive such a fall from grace, you obviously don't remember what happened to Sega.
And if we believe all the rumors of next gen, Nintendo has massive 3rd party support lined up and several new IP's ready for Wiiu launch.

I only know of two off the top of my head, Ronin. Arkham City and Aliens: Colonial Marines. One of those is now... what, about 6 months old as of right now? Are there more I'm forgetting?
