Nintendo still owns European sales charts

Nintendo still owns European sales charts photo
     NPD data

The sales charts for the week ended on July 27th reveal that Germans dig Drakensang, but still really enjoy Nintendo software. The Spanish are once again trying to diversify their portfolio by buying Soulcalibur IV and Metal Gear Solid 4, but can’t slip out of the Nintendo grasp either. It’s surprising to me that both Spanish and German consumers are getting enough copies of Wii Fit on their store shelves to warrant a strong first and fourth place finish in their countries respectively. All I hear about are these great Nintendo droughts involving the title.

The German list:

  1. Drakensang: The Dark Eye (PC)
  2. Drakensang: The Dark Eye - Limited Collectors Edition (PC)
  3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (DS)
  4. Wii Fit (Wii)
  5. Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS)
  6. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
  7. Brain Training (DS)
  8. Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)
  9. Mario Kart DS (DS)
  10. More Brain Training (DS)
The Spanish list:
  1. Wii Fit (Wii)
  2. Wii Play (Wii)
  3. Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS)
  4. Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)
  5. Soulcalibur IV (PS3)
  6. Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat? (DS)
  7. Soulcalibur IV (Xbox 360)
  8. Buzz! Master Quiz (PSP)
  9. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
  10. 42 All-Time Classics (DS)

It's called "batter wife syndrome". Europe just can't get enough of that wonderful closed fist.

pendelton21: I guess a game about dragons. I would further guess it's some RPG or RTS.

the funny thing is that 60% of the people that get one of those Wii Fits, stops playing after a week :)

I can understand the Germans, but why the fuck do the Spaniards need WiiFit or Cooking guide. They thin as fuck, tanned and their own foods are out of this world, what good do Cooking Guide and WiiFit do them?
