Nintendo slips up; Pokemon Diamond & Pearl release date announced prematurely? photo

Due to a slip-up (presumably), it seems Videogames Blogger has managed to grab a screenshot of a premature announcement on the Pokémon Web site, regarding the release date of Pokémon Diamond & Pokémon Pearl in the U.S.

Nintendo announced this specific April 22 release date before they wanted to, because it was only online at Pokemon.com for a few hours (click on the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl logo in the middle of the page), before Nintendo took the new info off the website and replaced it back to the old spring 2007 vague release date. So you can’t see it there now, but trust us, like on the above screenshot we saw it with our own eyes on the official website.

In all likelihood, this probably was a premature announcement, and was, thus, taken down. However, there's always that small chance that Game Freaks and Nintendo simply changed their minds about the release date and took the announcement down to reflect this. Keep your fingers crossed.

Glad to see you're so open-minded when you play games, Summa.

well you know Summa, if a game does not contain good graphics, advanced AI and online play its not a really a game.

Ironically, these do have online play. They also utilize the DS's mic for voice chat. I think Metroid Prime Hunters was the only other title that actually made use of that feature.

Actually, online Pokémon sounds like fun. The only problem I've got with the series is that they're translated to Dutch, might pick one up on Ebay and go all out against my lil' nieces.

If there was a more grown up version of Pokemon, I'd play it. I have played through Pokemon yellow, but that was when I was 15 and another RPG after FF7 seemed a good idea. Saying that, my DS won't be playing any Pokemon battles.

I think a grown up Pokemon game would sell like hotcakes. It'd be like cockfigting, but legal, and element-y.

I got nothin' but love for Pokemon games, even as an adult. Hopefully the new online functions will make the game a lil more 'fresh' than the past few installations. Just adding more pokemon doesn't make it a new game.

I wont lie - I picked up Emerald on the cheap so I can send the pokemon from that generation to send to Pearl and beat people's asses with.

Now I just have to find time to actually play it - Wii and PC games still have all my time.

Damn it, now I'd better finish my copy of Ruby on the GBA to transfer over when I finally get one of these. Online battling/trading? Win.
