Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

GoNintendo is reporting that one of its readers headed out to his local GameCrazy in order to try the Super Mario Galaxy demo ... a demo that just so happens to be the entire game. Earning the envious rage of gamers everywhere, this reader has now set out to beat the entire game before its official release date.

This isn't the first time Nintendo has sent out a full game for demo units prior to launch. It went and did the same with Excitetruck as well. Hopefully much more of you will get a chance to beat the game before its release, as Destructoid's heard that GameStop will be getting these "demo" discs in November.

Until then, check out the above video, where that reader shows off the UR MR GAY "demo" disc, and keep watching his vids if you want to check the lucky git's progress throughout the game. Obviously though, be wary of spoilers.

Thats was stupid. If you can play the full game on a demo, whta s the point of spending 50 bucks? Wow

Nintendo have an abundance of confidence in selling lots of this game regardless of giving the full game away as a 'demo'. Why they thought it was a good idea with excite truck, I'm not so sure.

Nintendo is way to cocky. Anybody that gives away a demo that contains the full game is retarded.

Umm... people, it's in Demo UNITS... it's not like you can go to the counter and ask for the free Super Mario Galaxy disc to take home. The guy's playing it in the game store.

I remember it used to be pretty common practice for retailers to get full game 'demos' to run on their in-store booths. I mean, I remember playing most of Sonic 2, Mario World, Starwing, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time at my local retailers. It's not to say I didn't buy them afterwards, it's hardly ideal playing on those booths with grotty control pads and store assistants breathing down your neck.

I really can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy. :( The UK are still getting it on the 16th right? RIGHT?

how is it a demo and a full game? their two different things. is there a time limit on the game so it resets after every 20 minuets or something?

@ Pedro Bandino: In the Wii demo setups I've seen in EB Games/Gamestops, they typically just have a regular system playing whatever game is in the drive at the time. Like Jim said, a while back you could play the full version of Excite Truck, or go mess around on the Wii Menu if you so chose. It's there didn't seem to be any timer reset that I noticed, but only shop when the stores are dead anyway.

If I managed that store, that disc would be coming home with me every night. :)

@AngelicLiver: Yeah I have one of those copies of Sonic 2 from a demo kiosk in my collection that has "NOT FOR RESALE" on the cartridge. :)

@Jack: Dude, seriously. Come. On.

Knowing my area, we won't get it until the game comes out. :( That doesn't mean I'm not going to be calling around to give it an early play though. Super Mario Galaxy has been my most anticpated game this year, and that's saying a hell of a lot.

Are the demo kiosk Wiis different somehow than the public ones? If they are, it may not be as simple as taking the disc home.

It may not run on anything other than a demo kiosk.

Then they'll reveal this wasn't actually the game, and they'll push release away for another half year. Then they'll say Mario Galaxy was another RPG.

Oni - demo Kiosks don't contain anything different from store purchased Wii.

When I was working at Game Crazy we sold the Excite Trucks demo Nintendo gave us.

The rep was pissed.

They did this with Metroid Prime 3 as well. I played the demo at a GameStop for close to an hour before feeling like a schmuck since I wasn't there to buy anything and left. Beyond that I could save the game. Demos (demoes?) don't have save stations.
