@bobyoko I think you're confusing games that are coming out with games that are actually out. At present, 3DS doesn't have an impressive catalog. Will it soon? Yes, definitely. I can't wait to play Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land. But right now? Sorry, had my fill of SSF4 and OoT.

I know this might sound bad, but I am kind of glad this is happening. This is showing Nintendo they can't just release a console and be the automatic winners. This reaction shows me that they acknowledged their decisions were poor. What does this mean for their future? Hopefully, they'll be unstoppable in the software department in order to make up for their loss per sale. It's necessary. They'll neeed to beef their game up pretty big now that they have some serious competition. Perhaps better online functionality, where I can MESSAGE my friggen 3DS friends? Invite them to games? VOICECHAT?
The problem here is that this means that Nintendo is really going to have to push software which means they need 3rd party support.
And if the Vita steals that away...well let's just say I'm glad I'm not them. The scary thing with Vita is that Sony sounded adamant about having devs be able to use their Vita stuff on the PS3 only making sure that the Vita version had enough exclusive content to make it worthy.

How can one not see this as basically spelling success for nintendo? They have superb first party games that appeal the old, like myself, and the young gamers. Now, young games can talk mom and dad into buying them a 3ds. High hardware sales will definitely entice third party support.

I call a small amount of BS on this claim when it was reported before or around the time of the handhelds launch that the costs for the system totaled out to be about $101 per unit. So either THAT claim was wrong or this one is.

Nintendo has been "going software only" since the N64, and that's only because in the SNES/Genesis era no one believed one of the two major console developers might drop out of console production. Considering how many people say this with every piece of hardware Nintendo releases one might be confused into believing it's the idiotic ramblings of brain dead twits with their heads shoved so far up their rear ends that everything they see is tinted brown.
Well, the large price point is no longer an excuse. As far as I can predict, 3DS sales will more than likely pick up now that it's about as affordable as a DSi XL.
You would think with the immense success of the Wii and DS that Nintendo has made enough profit to offset any losses from this next generation should it go tits up, providing they learn from there mistakes the company should be all good for the future both in terms of hardware and software.

All in all that could easily end being stories to affect the sales of the 3DS.

They shouldn't have cut the price..but rather included a game with the system...bundle that shit with ocarina of time and you might get some better sales...or just bundle with 1 game of choice for the $250 price tag
I know I said I'd buy a 3DS once it got either a big price cut or a revision of the hardware but I think I'll continue holding out. How 'bout this, I'll buy one once it gets a big revision or a Phoenix Wright game.

After this price drop, I'm really considering getting the 3DS. I was in no hurry haven't a full plate as it is, but it'll be nice to own a 3DS. I can concentrate on beating a billion of games I already own for all my other platforms and continue to collect the titles that interest me on the 3DS over the following years.

I've been pretty neutral towards 3DS. I've owned one since a week or so after launch and have had fun with it, but at the same time this price drop not only makes me lose faith in Nintendo's ability to maintain the systems future, but it also disappoints me.
Business is a cold hearted bitch, and I don't really expect them to give anything in return, because it is how it is, but I'll definitely think twice next time the next nintendo handheld comes out.
