A tablet AND a video game console... I'll be surprised if it's under 400-500. Unless they start selling them at a loss right off the bat.

i'm going to guess it'll msrp for $350. it's more than what current gen HD consoles cost now, but it isn't too much more than what they cost. I imagine that the real cost will come from the controller.
I will not be paying $300 for this thing. They seem to be going the Wii route all over again, and that approach is just not for me.
I'd say anything higher than $350 and they're going to be in trouble.

All this talk about "reasonable price" with no mention of the actual price, makes me worried that the price is not going to be reasonable.

Honestly the price of the 360 elite at launch would be reasonable for a console if it actually is a big improvement over the current gen, with same price I mean same price inflation corrected not same price as in same amount of dollars.
As excited as I am about the Wii U, it'll be hard to pay more than $350. We all know it'll be at least more powerful than what we have now, but what we have now is six years old, and $350 will be a huge increase from the Wii's launch price.
I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a comparable-to-7yo-tech console riding on a cheap, subpar, resistive touch tablet gimmick and reliance on rehashing unoriginal games we've seen more times than I'd care to admit. It's just an HD Wii with a shitty tablet.
I expect 350, but want it for 300, not just as a way to save 50 bucks, but as a "get what you pay for" type thing as well, I mean for Nintendo to not reveal the actual specs and do simple comparisons, I think a child could realize that they're going to be running 8 year old software, tweaked 8yr old software, but nonetheless pretty dam old.

I know I said a loooong time ago that I thought $349 would be the lowest it would launch for as people seemed to think it would hit for under $300...They yelled at me ;_;

~+$350 calling it now. The only reason for obfuscation like this is a total lack of confidence in the real price point. If it was actually something the general populace thought of as "reasonable" there would be no need to hold back.

Reasonable for a high paying executive or for average Joes? dunno about everyone else but the more they try to act coy about it the more i'm worried it's gonna be way high.
I've lost confidence in Nintendo to be able to accurately gauge what is reasonable. I have a sneaking suspicion they're going to think they can get away with $350.

If Nintendo releases it at $250 it would be the perfect price. The tablet is probably a cheap tablet that has no real tech in apart from a screen to display visuals streamed to it from the console. In fact the tablet works probably exactly like cloud gaming, it just streams what it displays.
Nintendo is just trolling us. This thing isn't coming out this year because its still in "development hell."
Completely off topic, but Dtoid sucks on my iphone, swipewhatever needs to go, counter intuitive, and I can't even use my mutlitouch functionality, and when I click on articles I can't see the comments (I think I'm being redirected to the sauce), bleh, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but new shit is suppose to be intuitive.

I'm guessing $299 and that's going to be too much for some people. Even though it's a new console, a lot of people are looking at it as a this-generation console.
Thank god I'm not the only one stuck in this to touch edition purgatory. I see it doesn't have ads(yet), but nor does it have comments. It looks too much like the Kinect 360 dashboard on my iPad for my liking.
Well Nintendo are fucking idiots when it comes to pricing in the UK especially. Again, they have just let the retailers decide, which means retailers will wait for US prices, inflate them and won't bother to justify why. Argh.
If it's more than $300 it's effectively dead in the marketplace until they drop the price. If it's $300, it'll be fine but it won't be moving too many units. If it's $250 at launch it might have a chance to get some momentum in the marketplace.

You know, I would have no qualms whatsoever paying $350 for this if they included NSMBU with it, but I'm guessing Nintendoland will be bundled with the console, which will make it a "wait till a price drop" console for me.... In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if it is priced at 350, the smartest thing they could do is offer a mario game with it.
250 with nintendoland pack in. They learned their lesson with 3ds and know the wii sold like crazy at the lower price point to competition.

And currently I'm not intrigued by another NSMB variation. will pick up NSMB2 on 3DS, but an NSMB alone is not enough to sell me a new console. If zelda-u gets announced and it looks like the 2011E3 trailer I'll reconsider, but currently there's just not enough games I'm super hyped about wiiu..
I would buy at 300, and I might go as high as 400 if it was bundled with a good launch game that wasn't comprised of minigames. Anything under 300 would surprise me.

I imagine like the Wii, the Wii U will be made from the cheapest parts possible, but still keep the quality and durability above average. That's why the game Pad doesn't have multi-touch, and why everything from the camera to the gyro controls, and the console shell itself will be made from off the shelf parts (still using a DVD format, although an upgraded one that apparently holds more than a blue-ray disc). That's also why it will only come with 8Gb of flash memory and a card or USB out for more. If it sells for more than $250-$300 (with a pack-in game)I'd be very surprised.
