Seriously, what's with some of you guys? Whining because they aren't consistently appealing directly to you? Whether or not you personally are interested in playing it, Monster Hunter 4 is HUGE for the 3DS, particularly if it's exclusive (I wasn't clear on that point, was it even mentioned one way or the other). And what's good for Nintendo in Japan is good for everyone. If they can nail the Japanese marketplace the way they did with the DS, they have more room to build a 3DS library to rival the DS's. But anyone hoping for a bunch of announcements that directly affected them, remember, TGS isn't the Western market's event. That happened several months ago. This is mainly a Japanese thing and while, traditionally, you can expect to see a lot of what's debuted there to come over here at some point, it really is a completely different market and I doubt they're going to show off any big Western-targeted items here. It would have been nice to see some universally appealing stuff (I'm hoping for some classic Metroid or Castlevania or 2D Zelda in the pipeline), but given how slow of a release cycle the initial wave of titles have been getting, it's still too early for any big core announcements. Once Super Mario Land, Mario Kart, and Kid Icarus are out, I think we'll be hearing some good news. Just sit tight and try to keep an eye on the big picture.
they've been talking about switching platforms for awhile now. plus, i'm sorry, but Capcom not only announced MH3G exclusively for 3DS, but also MH4 exclusively for 3DS and they've just started development of this title.
there won't be any Monster Hunter game for Vita atleast several months after MH4 comes out, (IF) by the time it comes out, Vita won't be relevant in japan.
The Vita's not getting a simultaneous release. Its performance in Japan will influence its release elsewhere.
We could be stuck with the 3DS, NoE's all-or-nothing policies, and NoA's insanity. And phone gaming.
