Nintendo reveals first half of 2008 releases photo

Nintendo and I have had our differences over the years, but even with a nearly endless capacity for petty, baseless grudges it's hard for me to ignore the epic list Nintendo has unveiled of their 2008 releases. I say epic because this is just the list for the first half of '08; and with nearly 150 games between the Wii and DS listed even I have a hard time maintaining a stodgy, no-fun visage.

Sadly, miracles and Santa Clause still aren't real and Smash Bros. remains listed for release in March; but if nothing else Mario Kart for the Wii is on target for a Spring release. You can start blaming me for jinxing that now.

Now with Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword and Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles on this list I'm sure to catch a fierce beating for even thinking this, but personally, I'm excited about Insecticide above all else.  Hit the jump for the full list and tell us with which games you'll earn the scorn of your peers for being excited about.

Is anyone else thinking, "I may have to buy Okami again"?

Insecticide looks sweet indeed, but I feel like it may just be the part of me that wishes for another Psychonauts game talking. I'm still waiting to hear how well it actually plays.

Opoona still looks bizarre enough to be worth keeping an eye on. But it'll probably suck.

It has been said that all the decent games for the Wii are being released by Nintendo and it totally looks that way.

March 25: Okami from Capcom thats all I found, but wait, that's a port.

Spring: LEGO: Indiana Jones from LucasArts, this could actually be good.

There are tons of titles to be excited about, but Kiki Kai World for Wii and Bangai-O for DS are the two most shocking/exciting listings.

@Dexter345: That is the main reason I'm excited for it, but with a noir style storyline and a whole mess of bugs I'm stoked.

Still no release date for Fire Emblem DS. I haven't seen any new info about that game since October. It's like it never existed.

@Mix
If it's anything like the LEGO StarWars games, it will be amazing.

Buying NMH and SSBB, then there's about 4 other games on there that i will rent, 2 of which i might buy if i can find them for cheap. Yay for useless crap!
GuitarAtomik's Avatar

Anyone who thinks Mario Kart will make it in Spring is delusional. I'm calling it now, Fall '08.

Also, yeah. Other than NMH, SSB:Brawl, and The World Ends with You (DS), there's nothing I'm really excited about on that list.

I might get Okami again since I think it will benefit from the Wiimote and I never got around to beating it on PS2 but that's a port, and Baroque looks interesting but I still don't know much about it.

Also, anyone else notice that Sadness is nowhere on this list? Just saying.

How come I haven't heard anything about this game before? Will have to check it out.

"February: Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30(TM)"
Isn't a really old game?

@Neonie
It's girl version of HM DS
Novakaine's Avatar
Novakaine at 01/16/2008 19:16
Neonie: Yes, you do want. It's the "For Girls" version of Harvest Moon DS, except without the game-breaking bugs and glitches. And even though you're a girl, you can have a "best friend" relationship with a girl that's pretty much yuri. =D

On those game lists, I see No More Heroes, Dragon Quest Swords, Super Smash Bros., Force Unleashed, and maybe Opoona for Wii; and Professor Layton, Harvest Moon DS Cute, Harvest Moon Island, Advance Wars, River King, Project Exile (!!!), and Ninja Gaiden DS as competitors for my scant mone.

As for Okami... no way, from what I heard they're retailing it at $50. If it pulls a RE4 and goes for $30 I'll definitely get it, but not for full price.

Has Nitrobike been delayed until March? I thought it was out already. I am completely stoked for NMH (Suda 51 is a genius) and Okami. I would not have anticipated that it would be coming out so early. I never got the chance to play it on the PS2. One of my greatest gaming regrets in the last 5 years.

I would just like to see Oboro Muramasa Youtouden Wii be released outside of Japan this year. That game looks sweet.

No More Heroes, Okami (missed it the first time around on PS2), Barogue, Brawl, Mario Kart, Apollo Justice, Ninja Gaiden DS, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, even with a job now, there's no way I'm going to be able to afford all this stuff.

The best release of the year for a portable system is coming out next week, so I'd say Nintendo has it right. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin looks amazing, as does No More Heroes, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Super Dodgeball Brawlers, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, Nitro Bike and, of course, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'd say that both systems are going to have a great year, and that's just based on what is in this one quarter alone!

Looks like a shit list. All I'm interested is Okami (A PS2 port), Alone in the Dark (A PS2 port), Mario Kart Wii and perhaps Ford Racing Off Road.

I can't Ubisoft has the balls to port the PS2 version of the 3 year-old version of Brothers in Arms - Road to Hill 30. We should be getting the new version of Hell's Highway just like the 360 and PS3. Capcom also has the balls to re-release Okami.

Here's hoping that For Racing Off Road is the first in a long line of AAA 3rd party racers on the Wii.

I'm also looking forward towards Disaster - Day of Crisis in the 2nd half of 08.

Red Steel 2 better be the most revolutionary FPS game made on any console to date (kind of what Goldeneye 64, Half-Life, Counterstrike, Battlefield, Halo, Far Cry PC, Escape From Butcher Bay, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. were back in the day). Ubisoft, the Wii is the defacto platform for FPS games, so make this one count, no excuses.

Red Steel 2 have better be the new Halo.

Damnit, if Harvest Moon Tree of Peace isn't on here, then I guess I can say I won't get it for my birthday in August, 'cause I live in Europe and the translator take about 4 months for every game even if it has only about one line of dialog.
