Early adopter burning FTW! Nintendo has announced that, less than a year after the launch of the DSi, a brand new, bigger, better DSi is on the way. We had already heard that a DSi with a bigger screen was coming, but today we have been given the new system's name, as well as the first images and specs.
The DSi LL will be getting a chunkier stylus, but aside from that, standalone pics of the system don't make it look any different from your average DSi. However, put it next to an older model and the significant size difference is clear. The DSi LL is ludicrously larger than the DSi.
The DSi LL will launch with three colors -- dark brown, wine red, and natural white. Nintendo has confirmed that the new version will be more expensive than the original DSi, due to its size. At least in Japan, the LL will ship with some DSiWare already loaded into the internal memory, but details about international launches are thin on the ground for right now (although a Euro release is confirmed).
If you want more information than you need, the DSi LL is 161x91.4x21.2mm in size and weighs 314g. It also has around two hours of extra battery life compared to the DSi.
So there you are. Sorry if you already bought a DSi, but Nintendo has a better one now. The best part is, if you bought DSiWare games for your original DSi, you can't upgrade without losing those games. Gotta love Nintendo and its ability to release ten billion versions of one handheld.
This is further proof even video game companies are soulless monstrosities with no higher interest than taking your money and turning a profit, just like any other corporation.
sent this news already 3 hrs ago..
It comes with a bigger screen, and costs a little extra than a normal DSi. The DSi was popular so they made more versions for the customers who want a larger screen, and made it a little more expensive. It's not like games/apps released for this new DSi wont work on your old DSi.
Good for you?
I like the colors, but I think I'm going to stick with the Lite for now.
Sigh.
At least the PSP Go didn't make the 3000 model inferior, which looks to be the case with this...
I'm liking the Wine red, and I'm more than happy to sacrifice a bit of portability for nice big screens. I rarey walk anywhere, so the fact that this might not fit so comfortably in a trouser pocket, doesn't matter as it will still fit in my car i assume.
In either case, the longer battery is a step towards actually getting my interest piqued.
Crack that bastard where it lets me NOT play with a NOT R4 and you gots yourselfs a deal, Nintendo...
Anyway, this one looks to big for me, and I all ready bought a DSi, no need to upgrade.
the resolution WILL be better on this DSi, right?
good times, good times.
I swear to god it if it wasn't for Mario, Zelda, and the occasional good 3rd party game for Nintendo's Systems, I would be leading a crusade right now about how Nintendo is ruining my favorite hobby.
To hell with them.
Fuck you Nintendo.
I trademark the name here first, the DSiLL (XD lol)
I have not updated from my DSLite from 2007, and I kinda feel good I didnt already. This one looks interestingly huge, but I still think it's too early to update.
do want
I might invest in one of these, the sucker I am, eventually. However, I already have a DS Lite, and I'm eagerly awaiting a proper DS2 with much better spec, and I doubt the guts of this one have changed. The DS is a good few years old now and frankly, its time to upgrade its guts, which are still that cut down N64 stuff from 96'. Cheaper, yes, but fair to us, a big no.
I hope Nintendo stop dicking round with these updates, and just give us what we really want, DS2.
With News link this, don't be surprised if the Wii HD Arrives before you even expected.
It does me well since I have big hands, and it's pretty durable too...
Actually all I want is a DS designed like the DS phat but with the features of a DSi and a GBA slot. All these new versions all seem to be fixing shit that isn't broken.
...Who knows? Nobody saw DSi LL coming.
So they are doing the opposite of Sony...? Big LOL. Nintendo's going bonkas.
Seriously, you can stick with a handheld for more then a year Nintendo. Really. It's ok. You'll still make money.
