You have to be kidding me. If this were true, this would be the stupidest move Nintendo has ever done. This won't effect me, but, NOT INCLUDING THE AC ADAPTER? It's an industry standard for a system to include it's AC adapter. You need one in order to play the 3DS, and they are going to sell it separately? Imagine all those confused soccer moms when this comes out.
Nintendo has been dropping the ball like crazy this year:
-NSMB 2 and NSMB Wii U coming out so close to each other and not changing much substantially game play wise. And then adding fucking planned paid DLC to it.
-Basically zero support for the Wii this year. Xenoblade and Last Story do not count, they been released in Japan for 2 years now.
-The Wii U being only a smidge more powerful than the 360. I mean, I'm not a graphics whore in the least, I'd just like there to be 8th generation multiplatforms to take advantage of the gamepad. Unless what Iwata was saying about current engines not be optimized for the Wii U's architecture was true, but that's doubtful because Pikmin 3 (a first party game which by all means should be optimized for the Wii U) is running at 720P with 30FPS.

Well that's getting bought. I fucking hate the build quality of the 3DS regular. It feels like a chinsy piece of shit so I'm glad about this. It may piss lots of people off but after holding a Vita and a DSi XL this will be a welcome change.
I want one, but dunno that I can justify it. I have a 3DS, but with the game drought I've barely touched it since finishing Mario 3D Land.
Unfortunately, Konami has successfully killed any interest I had in the new Castlevania by making its lack of everything I loved about Castlevania their primary selling point for the game, but the new Professor Layton sounds awesome, and Animal Crossing is on the way, too.
I still want a new Metroid, Infinite Space, Advance Wars or any number of DS greats to get a 3DS sequel. Metroid II remade like Zero Mission would be fantastic. A new Infinite Space would make me the happiest person ever. I wonder if SNK would consider a Metal Slug 8, or porting the Wii collection to the 3DS?

That's because Super Mario 64 DS was supposed to be played with the d-pad. Almost every game on the 3DS that uses the second pad is for aiming or camera control. The touch screen is perfect for that.

Id have preferred they use all that extra space inside for just battery instead of the bigger screen, personally.
I just traded in my Circle Pad pro because pretty much nothing will use it and everything that does plays just fine without it.

After taking a second look, I actually like this design much more then the current 3DS. I'll definitely sell my 3DS for this. Despite being a bit shocked that they made this, I'll still get it. Looks promising. :)
Day one swap for me. 3DS is pretty awkward for people like myself with big hands. Fingers tend to get sore after a hour or so.

Totally getting this! I'm sick of the normal 3DS's tiny shoulder buttons and crappy battery life. IT HAS SUCH GOOD GAMES THOUGH! Saving up all Summer for this bad boy.
It was a good idea to make it bigger, but a bad idea to integrate the second nub? I'll wait for the third iteration, as I don't need a large DS.

I'll keep waiting for the second nub, xl version, that'll be another couple of years. I'll be super disappointed if they have no way of transferring all my data from my first 3DS.

They said they wouldn't release an updated version, but I'm not surprised. But what about a 2nd thumbstick? Nintendo knows that's what everyone wants, and I bet the pro pad or whatever it's called won't fit on that thing.
I'm interested, but honestly, after hearing about the visual quality of games on the DS XL, I'm gonna hold off on this until I see for myself or hear that the extra screen space is worth it. Really, the thing I'm most interested in is the improved battery life.
As for the lack of a second nub, I'm not really too choked up over it. I can't even think of that many 3DS games that require it, so until Monster Hunter gets published in the West, I think I'll do fine without the second nub.

Man, Nintendo's as predictable as Capcom. Why get the first iteration of their product, when it's clearly just a test for the next iteration. Not like there's been much reason to get a 3DS, but this just further justifies it.

Why do people get so insanely mad at Capcom doing things like Ultimate MvC3 but people are happy when Nintendo do the exact same thing but with something that, if you bought both, would cost $400? I can't wait for the 3DS Dual Stick, or the 3DS² as it will probably be called. Of course, following Nintendo's 1 step forwards, 1 step back with the handheld upgrades (e.g. add backlighting, remove headphone socket) it won't have these larger screens.

Looks nice, but definitely not spending money on this. My 3DS has been doing nothing but gathering dust for several months now.

I really don't have a huge interest in the 3DS, but I said I'd just wait for the eventual revision, which they did just as I knew they would. However, I didn't expect this bullshit. They made a revision to make the screen bigger, great, but they didn't put a second analog on it? Again, WHAT THE FUCK?!
Now, they'll probably do a 3DS XL Plus or some shit about 6 months later with a second analog on it and charge another $200 and laugh in everyone's faces who bought the original and this 3DS XL. That or they'll just give the finger to everyone and say "Oh I guess you 3DS XL owners are just going to have to buy this now." and they'll pull a XL Slide Pad out of their ass for another $30 or something.

Damn it, this is what I get for not waiting my standard 2-3 years after release to buy a console/handheld. Ah well, the colors are pretty unappealing, so as nice as that screen is, I'm not feeling any hurry to go trade in my 3ds for the XL.

I knew it'd pop up eventually if I held out long enough. Now, I have no excuse not to own one... well, except for the lack of a second nub. That still kinda bothers me. Also, there's not much worth playing on it right now. Also, the 3D gimmick isn't much of a thing anymore, and from what I hear, is not being used very well. Also, Stealth loves it so much he carries one around in his vagina all day, and I don't want to enjoy anything that rides in that man's ham wallet. Also, PS Vita is clearly the better system, so I might as well just get that.
