Nintendo offers official retro wall decor, will also officially make you poor photo

If you have mad envy for those intensely talented muralists floating around the net who have painted walls of their homes to resembles scenes from your favorite classic NES games, this may be the solution for you. Spotted over at Blik, you can now purchase an officially licensed set of graphics (this is good so Nintendo does not sue you) from games such as Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong and New Super Mario Bros.

Cool, right? You get 3 huge 26" X 40" sheets of decals in each package, which can be removed or rearranged at anytime. There's only one tiny setback -- each pack costs $75. I don't think it's that much for decor, especially since it involves my favorite topic, but I have a feeling some gamers will be quick to write these off because of the price. After all, we're broke all the time because we buy games constantly. Maybe we should just decorate our walls with game boxes and call it a day.

[Thanks, Justin]

That pretty freaking sweet, and a genius idea on their part. Everyone would love to decorate their room at sometime, but they also don't want to have to undecorate it at a later time. And, $75 for the large arse things that go on your wall are pretty standard. There were some Cars decals that my brother-in-law bought that were more expensive and were just a bunch of little ones.

is that Summa in the pipe?

Damn didn't know he was hiding in there all this time... I guess hitting rock bottom means being under the pipes :/

@Crunshil:

Summa... oh how I've tried to forget him. I thought it was Trent Reznor for some reason...

I'm going to try to talk my girlfriend into hanging one of these up in the new apartment. I'm letting her do a room in yellow so I have some bargaining power. Plus she digs Mario, so hopefully it will be easy.

Omg, I want that Donkey Kong set so hard. When I have a house with its own gaming room, they will be mine.

Personally, when I saw the title I was thinking like $300... $75 really isn't that bad, think about what people will pay for wall scrolls.

I'm sure Nintendo will shut this down soon, as it, no doubt, appeals to the wrong crowd: "geeks and otaku". We're a stupid lot, according to our big, beloved N. Sorry, can't seem to let that comment of theirs go...

I was going to say it looks sort of like Tristero in the pipe, but since somebody said it looks like Summa, that would be a mean thing to say about Tristero.

Also, do want, but my girlfriend would probably not approve.

It's exactly what I needed to keep attractive females from going in my room. Thanks Nintendo!

A while back on the site where they sell these I was about to buy the space invader ones when I saw some mario mushrooms pop up on the top of the page followed by an 8 bit "coming soon". I figured mario graphics were on the way and I'm glad I waited.

If you were lazy (but slightly less lazy than doing nothing) you could use these for side art on a MAME project. Nice.

These are actually really awesome. I ordered the New Super Mario Bros. set and put it on the wall directly in front of the front door, so everyone gets greeted with Nintendo-y goodness.

No Zelda, no sale.

Seriously, I'd buy a set if they made a LttP one.

Funny that you say, "let's just decorate our walls with game boxes and call it a day." I almost bought something like that off ThinkGeek awhile back, it held a bunch of games and could be hung up to cover a large portion of your wall. :(
