Well you know what Nintendo I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to this. I'm off to look for a hack for my Wii to remove region locking and import Xenoblade. So fuck you NoA is all I have to say. Hopefully someone will have an English patch or something for The Last Story and I'll import that to.

Operation Rainfall is insisting that they've only gotten started, and as far as I'm concerned, it's a cause I need to get active in. This is no longer about the games, it could very well be a sign of things to come. Time to nip this mindset in the bud, if you ask me.

Don't forfeit these games yet. Until Nintendo gives a flat and simple yes or no,Operation Rainstorm are gonna bug the he'll out of Nintendo, and the best thing to do is support it.
I'm not a fan of these games but I can understand how stupid this is. Luckily Nintendo made the Wii so easy to hack, hopefully people can still get their games going.

Between this and the lackluster support so far for the 3DS, I'm really starting to question why I would buy another Nintendo console. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably buy Mario 3D and Starfox 3D, but... it's looking like that's all one can be looking to play on Nintendo's consoles these days.

All nintendo portables (and really systems in general) start with shit support. Theres not one example of it having thousands of games in every genre at launch. They grow into it.

I was thinking of buying Zelda: Skyward Sword. I'm not now. I'm not a Zelda fan at all, played ONE game and beat it, and this next one was half-interesting. No longer on the fence about it thanks to all this.
Don't blame just Nintendo for this, blame the American market too. We have proven time and time again that games like these don't interest us. How many JRPGs this gen did well outside of FF13? Niche markets died a swift death this gen here in the states, at least as far as consoles are concerned.
That's why I don't buy any of this "gateway drug" philosophy. Your grandma playing Wii sports is just as likely to buy Xenoblade as the bubblegummer playing Call of Duty 5 hours a day. The industry got the bubblegum hardcore into gaming with its focus on action titles, and they never played anything else.
Nintendo could have easily brought these games here, but we're reaping what we've sewn. They don't care because the mainstream here spent the last 5 years proving they were too cool to play good games that didn't involve shooting someone.

Oh yeah, I also want to yet again reiterate my statement about nintendo dropping put of the console race. The only reason hardcore gamers buy nintendo consoles anymore is first party games, and you know it. The main argument to this is that "nintendo is innovative, they can't go third party" and to that I say bullshit. They may be good SOFTWARE innovaters (although even that's debatable) but they've always been stubbornly stuck in the past with their hardware. From refusing to use discs to having a shitty only system, the only huge console innovation they've done is the wii and that's probably done more harm than good. They can still make portable systems and peripherals that they forget to support after 1 or 2 games, but if they are just going to coast on Mario/Zelda games and mingames, then I'm done with them until the wii u is in the bargain bin
this is really stupid from nintendo's part. i mean, i understand the reluctance to bring in the 10+ games the people have been clamoring but come on, can't we get the last story AT LEAST?! that game will make a profit on reputation alone.
