The first real hint that Nintendo of America may be localizing The Last Story has been dropped with the discovery of a registered domain Mistwalker's Wii roleplayer. Although Nintendo has stated it has "no plans" to bring the game Westward, this bit of news gives us a clue that the company is at least not ruling it out.
The domain was registered in early 2010, so Nintendo's been sitting on it for awhile. The company also has one for Xenoblade, which makes sense considering the title was recently confirmed for Europe.
Nintendo, like any company, enjoys squatting on domain names, so there's no ironclad guarantee. Nevertheless, it's encouraging stuff, and I'm still certain we'll see the game in the United States before too long. It's not like Nintendo's got anything else coming up for the Wii right now.
If E3 doesn't bring a Last Story announcement, I'll weep for all time.
The Last Story sortira en occident finalement? [Gamekyo]

the 3DS port!
Coming soon!
Man this is a great week for RPGs !
Are you serious about Solatorobo? I would kill to play that game in English! God I hope all these great games get localised.
On topic, this news makes me happy. Maybe with any luck we can be playing this in the fall. :( / :)
But the fact that this domain has actually existed for a year means it's nothing *new* meaning it doesn't necessarily mean there has been any change in Nintendo's plans.
It's still awesome, just not as awesome as I thought it was when I read the headline.
Also, Pikmin 3 seems more likely for 3DS, not Wii.
Which makes me sad, as I own one and not the other.
Oh, woe is me!
The Japanese game industry has been dying for a while now, mostly from stupid choices (such as this), unwillingness to change and being cocky. The only series that really do well are the well established franchises, everything else has been just re-hashed shit. Even with all the shitty shooter games we make, it makes me actually proud to be getting into the American game industry.
oh and please include Fatal Frame IV, II Remake, and Pandora Tower.
No Cynic, this isn't evidence that Nintendo has heard anyone's calls. The news says that Nintendo registered the name in early 2010, putting it before Nintendo chose to ignore the Wii in order to focus on the 3DS. Putting it possibly even before their denials? It was probably picked up when there was some possibility, but that possibility could easily have been squashed since that time.
It would make sense for Nintendo to pick up the domain even if they didn't ever plan to release the game in the US. Heck, it would arguably make more sense to pick it up then, as it would prevent fans from causing confusion building a fake site.
I'd like to see The Last Story get a US release, but don't get your hopes up from this bit of news.
Yeah, I'm not holding out hope for this one until I see the thing on shelves.
