Nintendo licenses Mario Kart slot racetrack ... for some reason photo

Can't get enough Mario Kart? Soon you can smoke the competition in (semi) real life with this classically styled slot racetrack, featuring Mario and Yoshi. Why you would want to do that for more than 10 minutes is a mystery, but hey, people like Mario and people used to like slot racers, so somebody's dream just came true somewhere.

Included in the set are the aforementioned racers, nine feet or so of track, two controllers, and some nifty background pieces to keep the theme going. If you're a collector or you don't know what to do with the $29.99 grandma sent for your birthday, you can pre-order one right here and still get in some kart action when the TV craps out. (Red shells, stars and anything else that makes Mario Kart fun not included.)

9 feet of track! That's almost as long as my new screen name!

o..m..g..

I am sooo buying this.

I can relive my childhood and set up the track at the top of my stairs and watch Mario and Yoshi fly off the track to the flaming lava pits (a.k.a. my floor) below. Sweet!

Drunken Mario Kart racing? I think so. Can't get too old for something this great.

This is news? I saw these in Gamestation stores in the UK earlier this year. One in Morecambe (don't ask what I was doing there... hah) and the other in Wigan. It was £19.99 - so it's more expensive here but that's only tax etc really. I almost bought this on impulse buy but saved my pennies for a DS Supercard. Looks wicked fun, though I imagine loading up a snes cart or a snes emu with 4 controllers is more fun.

this might be cool, cuz when you bored with Mario and friends you can super glue whatever you have around onto their heads and then you can race.....used condoms!

Man, I loved slot racers when I was a kid. I used to have a Dukes of Hazzard set, it was awesome. I'd love to pick this up if my kiddo was a little bit older. That RC Mario Kart is pretty rad too.

They have had tacks similar to this in my local Gamestation in the UK for yonks. Stacked up next to the little remote control thingies of the same characters. Pretty nifty looking too.

I liked slot cars when I was nine or ten. I'd play with this if I had one in frotn of me, but I wouldn't buy it.
