Nintendo holding conference on October 2, might announce something interesting photo

Reports all over the Internet have indicated that Nintendo would be holding a press conference in Japan on October 2. Unfortunately, most of the reports have been in that Japanese moonspeak that we don't understand.

Kotaku's Japanese-speaker and all-around handsome fellow Brian Ashcraft, however, does understand the moonspeak. And according to him, Nihon Securities Journal has revealed that Nintendo will hold a conference on October 2 in which they will announce "new products."

Now before everyone gets excited, keep in mind that Nintendo of America has already gone on record as saying that they've already revealed their hand for the remainder of the year. But that doesn't necessarily mean they can't announce hotness for 2009; Nintendo won't be attending Tokyo Game Show this year (as usual), so this might be a good opportunity for them to reveal their wares.

Is anyone excited about this, or has the lack of recent core-gamer-related megaton announcements from Nintendo gotten you down?

New hand-held no, they said only if sales were dropping.
Meh don't know what to think. E3 was nothing special ( nice to know about M+) so lets see what it all be.

@mymidon.
Admit it, you want a black Wii xD

I will NOT fall for this again after this year's E3. This time I won't be expecting anything good, and I suggest you to do the same. This way I won't be let down by another stupid announcement like Wii Music, and if something good comes out from that event I'll have plenty of time to be hyped AFTER the actual announcement.

I don't think they'll be announcing any games or anything... Probably peripherals. I'm waiting for the Tokyo Game Show for the game announcements.

i imagine at this point that they're gonna HAVE to address the storage solution being that Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: WT will be out anytime now and both are promising DLC

I think well see a storage solution, I'd be pretty gobsmacked if we didn't.

They're announcing that they're refunding all the money of the people they swindled into thinking the Wii was worthwhile.

Products almost certainly means it's not going to be games. Maybe we'll see a solution to the storage problem along with a Nintendo-branded USB flash drive that costs 3-4x market value and only comes in 512MB and 1GB varieties, but I wouldn't expect much beyond that.

And Wii Money Printer that lets you swipe your credit card so Nintendo can just take it all instead of having to give you cheap white plastic in return.

I have it on exceptional authority that Nintendo is going to announce that Nintendo is awesome, and that they are rich.
