Nintendo gives American Wii owners another round of VC crap photo

Want to play Mario Kart 64? Well, you'll either have to wait or undust the Nintendo 64 because Nintendo hates you and decided to release the craptacular NES duo of Urban Champion and Baseball instead.

Yeah, that's it. Not much else to say. We got burned. Nurse that New Year's Eve hangover and play some real games instead.

This disappoints me, not because these games suck, but because Nintendo has the opportunity to float gamers while they wait for new Wii titles by giving them classic older titles and instead they're giving us shit. Where is Metroid, Castlevania, SMB 3?

These releases are awesome, They're the reason I actually bought a Wii in the first. Urban Champion is a total classic; the animation where the dude tries to throw the plant on your head has been stolen and misappropriated by so many games it's not even funny. This is the reason why the Virtual Console exists -- to let youngsters know where some of their favorite games were born.

The great thing about Nintendo's library is that they have enough solid releases that they could (literally) every week release one blockbuster title (from any platform) and it would satiate our desires, as well as making it seem like their network is worth a damn.

hey robert, i find it really annoying using the cassical controller while playing super mario bros. the run button is B!!!! it should have been y, b should have been jump like in super mario all stars for the snes. i perfer playing my nes games on the remote vs classic.

anybody else have the same problem?

I'd like to see Blast Corps. and some other N64 games, actually I'd like to see a lot of N64 games. Pretty much anything from Rare and Nintendo studios. And, some RPGs from the SNES. Hell one of those would keep me busy for a month. I'd agree that these releases haven't been so stellar. I still haven't seen a game that makes me want to use my Wii points. :(

However, that doesn't excuse this VC shit. I bought one game on VC, and that's Bonk. And even then, it was only because we were given a points card. I'm banking the other 1400 for something decent.

Those are two very weak looking games that should have had a third better one along side. No biggy though because we got Mario, R-Type and Toejam & Earl last week, which everyone seemed so stoked about last week but now have forgotten all about.

Perhaps the question is are you getting more enjoyment from the VC games or the bitching about VC games you want. Personally I'll be plugging spare time into R-Type and Mario for a few weeks before I consider buying anything else.

I wouldn't mind Nintendo doing a Poll channel though so you can vote on a list of titles to be released. That'd be kinda neat.

Seriously though. I don't particularly care. I have more than enough games to play at the moment on my Wii while my 360 gathers dust.

And adding more to the retro games? Like the "fantastic" job that's done on the Xbox games? Not every developer is as talented as Capcom when it comes to updating retro games. 9 times out of 10, I'd much rather have the original as it was intended. Making dumb additions for the sake of additions is akin to colorizing a black and white movie. But hey, that's what tech whores do: things are only good until the next best thing comes along. Like a bunch of puppets driven by hype.

Man, some people get cranky when there is any criticism of Nintendo.

The sad fucking thing is, I actually owned and played the shit out of these games when I was a kid. I'm 32, so the NES, and these shit games were actually pretty good.......wait, no, they sucked back then. These games should have never, ever, been on the list to release on the vc. Do you think there would be people clamoring for Urban Champion?

And I'm sure some of you Nintendo purists would know...Why doesn't Nintendo put any type of online or improvements into these games? That surprises me, especially with the prices they charge.
