Nintendo drops five downloadable Wii demos like it's 2005 photo

Flip on your Wii (ha!), head on over to the Wii Shop Channel, and under WiiWare, search "demo." What you'll see is five shiny new demos from the lovely folks at Nintendo. Their goal is to give gamers a taste of the games they're hoping to sell you this holiday season, like demos were a new concept or something.

Download demos of any or all of the following for ZERO Wii points:

  • BIT.TRIP.BEAT
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord
  • NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits
  • World of Goo
  • Pokemon Rumble (full version also available this week)

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo. These demos are greatly appreciated. But welcome to four years ago! And instead of having to search for them, you should have a demos section where these things are easily accessible. Way to keep up with the Jonses!

Better late than never?

At least it's better than buying blindly, or going darker routes to play it.

Now how about a demo for a retail product? A one or two level NSMB Wii demo anyone?

i hope they start getting their act together with this kind of stuff now.
normally pirating games is the best option, but often those going up on wiiware are small indie titles which i feel morally opposed to ripping off.

@topspot123:
yes, yes, and fuck come on yes. in a perfect world, nintendo will join us here in 'modern day' this year.

Why would anyone need a demo for World of Goo? That game is freaking fantastic and everybody should just buy it.

Dang. Wish I had a demo for My Life As A Darklord back when it came out. I was quite disappointed with that game.

Oh come on, lets give the a little credit for this. At least they're doing it and not just sticking to their stubborn guns anymore, like they always use to. If this was Nintendo of 2005, you wouldn't be getting any demo's for the rest of this generation, because they would make you wait until the next system came out to do it. Its good to see Nintendo get with the times and change things up when they need to. Sure its late, but don't forget WiiWare is only a year an a half old!

great news, but these demos may have to wait until i'm finished with mario. damn, is that game good, and i've yet to find the flaws that i've heard about on the net. on topic, i've already bought wog twice and btb, but i would like to give ff a go. thanks for the heads up

Good Lord, finally. The Wii supports 32gb SD cards. Why aren't there demos for EVERY game already?

@pedro: Even the 100,000 APPS!!!! App Store doesn't have demos for every game. Sadly, as there are some that I regret buying and still don't have a demo now.

@Doomsday Forte

As much as I'd like retail demos, I actually am fine with just downloadable game demos. You can't rent from WiiWare, so this is a good thing.

I just tried to download a bunch, and it was actually painless. Not what I expected from some type of online service provided by Nintendo.

Nintendo innovated the motion controller but failed to understand what their customers want before downloading their products... Until what? 4 years later? At least Nintendo finally moved forward... Now, when the hell is the new Zelda (the older link and not so cartoonish one) and Metroid: Other M coming out?

These demos just filled up my Wii. Now I can join in with everyone bitching about no hard drive. Guess I need to get a SD card.
