Quantcast

Nintendo downloads: Ant Nation, Bit Boy!!, Pulseman, more photo

I have never had an ant colony growing, because my thought process was always "Really, a box of ants in some sand WTF?" Besides, I was always afraid they'd bust out and lay eggs in my mouth while I was sleeping, even though I'm pretty sure that's not scientifically possible.

Where am I going with this? Konami's ant-slave simulator, Ant Nation (1 player, 700 Wii Points) is available for WiiWare today. It's what you'd think -- you train a colony of Super Ants. That's what you thought, right? Also hitting WiiWare world is Bit Boy!! (1-2 players, 600 Wii Points), devloper Bplus' crazy pixel adventure that spans 4-bit through 128-bit worlds. And you can get your strategy/action with with Incoming! (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points), which features tank characters with human eyes.

Gameloft thinks you're stupid or lazy, because it's delivering another brain exercise game to DSiWare today. Brain Challenge (1 player, 800 Nintendo DSi Points) will test your brain in Math, Logic, Focus, Memory, and Visual. Use this once again, and you'll be the most well-tuned human soldier by the year 2099.

Finally, Virtual Console gets hit with two titles that originally hit Sega platforms: Sega's own Secret Command (1-2 players, 600 Wii Points) which originally hit the Master System, and Game Freak's Pulseman (1 player, 900 Wii Points). Yes, that's the same Game Freak responsible for the Pokemon titles; there are even Pulseman references in Nintendo's pocket monster wrangling games. Gotta find 'em all!

How awesome is is that not even a week ago (July 8th, to be exact) that Ashley wrote an article on Games Time Forgot about Pulseman & here is it today, finally released on the VC!! Guess I better get more Rock Band Pepsi codes so I can get the Nintendo Points off them.

I'm excited by more Wiiware releases, but this whole Wii points thing needs to burn at the stake. I'm absolutely sick of needing to buy 1,000 points just because I really only want 600 points. I refuse to buy anything above, not because I don't want it, but because I refuse to waste my money on points I don't need. Let me just by the game (a la Steam) and let me be done with it.

If you haven't played it yet, get Pulseman. I remember it was a big deal when it showed up on Sega channel. It's Sega's 16-Bit answer to Mega Man.

Also, pretty sure they say BUTT BOMB.

Sigh...oh Nintendo, what happened to ever releasing a game for your own system on VC? I know you've hit most of the high points, but there are certainly other games you can put out! Now, it's mainly Sega supporting the VC all by its lonesome, and since Konami pulled out, I have little hope of ever seeing the Turbo Duo port of Castlevania Dracula X: Rondo of Blood. Sigh...

Bit Boy looks like a Pacman multi-bit version. SOLD!

I've gotta watch Pulseman before making a decision.
