Nintendo DLC Update: Star Wars and puzzle stuff photo

Prepare for a thrilling week on the Nintendo downloadable front, folks.

Look forward to going backward with Super Empire Strikes Back. Releasing soon on the Virtual Console, the Super NES port puts you in the shoes of various infamous rebels including Luke Skywalker and the ever-entertaining Chewbacca. Priced at 800 Wii Banana Points, it’s sure to, uh, titillate some nerd out there.

Mr. Driller is striking back as well. This week’s WiiWare title is Mr. Driller W, an “updated” version of the Namco-developed puzzle game. It debuts at 800 Wii Space Bucks as well.

On the DSiWare front, owners will be happy to find an actual game -- not a clock -- as their downloadable goodie for the week. The forthcoming title is called Pop+ Solo and is described as an “awesome puzzle/shooter” boasting tons of modes. I haven’t the slightest idea what this thing is from the official release, so I’ll just include that below the fold.

As usual, all of these titles will be available at 9 AM Pacific today.

Super ESB is actually a pretty kick-ass platformer. One of the best on the SNES. It's likely NOT worth 800 points, however.

I'm only interested in Mr. Driller if it has some sort of online capabilities to it. Otherwise, I'll stick with the original arcade version on the PS1, thank you very much. I don't really like the weird "anime" style of the series now.

Is this the first licensed/movie-based game to come out on the VC? It raises my hopes ever so slightly that we may someday get the Capcom/Disney games. Also, I remember the Super Star Wars games as being pretty good when I rented them back in the day.

The original Ninja Turtles for the NES came out a while back, but I can't think of any others.

You bet your ass F. I remember entering that damn thing constantly to get the debug menu on that game, mainly as it was the only Super Star Wars I ever really owned. You had to enter that shit FAST, too. I have not played that game in over 15 years, and I still remember that code like it was the Konami code.
