Nintendo DLC: Majora's Mask is 300th Virtual Console title photo

As the title of this story suggests, the Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) hits the Virtual Console today. It marks the 300 title to hit Nintendo’s Virtual Console service, and it’s also good news because the game is phenomenal. This is of course old news for folks in Japan and Europe – they’ve had the game since early April. (Yes, we’re bitter.)

DSiWare finally sees another interesting release in Art Style: PiCTOBiTS (1 player, 500 DSi Points). On paper, it seems like a standard puzzler – you’ll be clearing falling tblocks by combining them with square blocks (“bits”) of the same color. But considering all of the “Art Style” games have been excellent, there’s no reason to think this won’t be worth five bucks. Nintendo is also promising hidden characters you’ll unlock by completing stages, including those from classic NES titles.

Crystal Defenders R2 (Square Enix, 1 player, 800 Wii Points) and Silver Star Chess (Agetec, Inc., 1-2 players, 500 Points) are your WiiWare offerings today. One is a Final Fantasy-themed tower defense style game, the other is – you’d be surprised – a chess game. Both require you to use your brain, which might be a little much to ask for a Monday morning.

This is probably one of the best Nintendo DLC updates in awhile; I see at least two titles that are a “must buy” myself (I’m looking at Majora’s Mask and PiCTOBiTS). Thinking about spending some of those points you’ve been sitting on?

Nice! But here's a PR tip to Nintendo: hate money for a day or so and make this temporarily 300 points. Microsoft and Sony work out free/discounted marketplace deals monthly. It would be nice to see that they have a soul for a bit.

I'll have to go download Majora’s Mask when I get the chance. I have been wanting to play it again for a while.

Majora's Mask is still my favourite game of all time.
I would buy this if I didn't already own a copy.

And if I still had a Wii.

Very excited for this one, never got the chance to play Majora's Mask extensively when it was new.

Quit your belly-aching. Us Europeans (and don't even get me started on Australia) always get everything last.

Speaking of which: I want PiCOPiCT! When do WE get it, NoE?

ZOMG I'm gonna insert my gold Majora cartridge right now into my N64 and enjoy beating the final boss again with the Fierce Deity Mask, good times, good times....

If Nintendo wants to appeal to the "hardcore" they should make a God Of War clone with Fierce Deity Link, his sword-design is awesome :-P

I never beat Majora's Mask... fuck, I need to buy it now. :/ it was easily one of the most interesting Zelda games I've ever played and one of the best videogame universes I've ever experienced.

It seems like Nintendo listens to its fan, but likes to cock-tease them for years before giving out the goods!

FUCK IT! DOWNLOADING NAO!!!!

Majora's Mask is a collectathon's wet dream. It took me forever to collect every sticker for my bomber's book.

Holy Jesus, that took forever.

Although I already have it on a golden cartridge, I just fear the day all of my N64 games' batteries die.

@ Kvb;

Actually, the US didn't get a lot of the good stuff on the VC ahead of us. I think we got, as an example, games like Sin and Punishment first.

But yeah, we've had a lot of late games in the past in general...

Never had this on N64. May need to buy. Been looking for a good, engrossing game like this. Hmmm...this today and Punch Out tomorrow? Not bad.

Even though I have the Collector's Disc, I still may pick this up if it plays any better. Way too much slowdown on the disc.

I figured that MM would be the 300th title since it's a milestone, it's a big Nintendo game, & it's already been released in Japan & I think Europe.

Downloaded PictoBits w/ the last 1/2 of my free Nintendo Points.
