Three words -- Excitebike: World Rally (1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points). The WiiWare update of the original that was just recently announced is available today, with online multiplayer, updated visuals, and more. The track editor makes it a return, as well, and so do I. I'm buying this game as soon as it's available for download, which should be today around 9:00 A.M. Pacific. Race with me, will you?
Konami is also bringing Frogger back for Frogger Returns (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points), which has the frog looking both ways before it crosses a bunch of new roads with updated graphics and more. Dragon Master Spell Caster (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) is not a remake, but clearly attempts to be all things to everyone -- dragons, masters, and spell casters. Can you be all three at once? Stickmen Studios, the game's developer, thinks so.
DSiWare sees the release of Hudson's Bomberman Blitz (1-8 players, 500 DSiPoints) and five Electroplankton games -- Trapy, Hanebow, Rec-Rec, Nanocarp, and Beatnes. They're all 200 DSi Points a piece, and will look familiar to anyone who already owns Electroplankton -- they're just standalone versions of that game's different modes. Still, even at 200 points a piece (along with the five other plankton, yet to be released), it's cheaper than finding a copy of the full game on eBay for more money than it's worth.
Virtual Console also gets some love with Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) and Cybernoid (Commodore 64, 1 player, 500 Wii Points). But I repeat -- Excitebike: World Rally. That is all.
Well to be fair they announced that it was coming out two weeks ago, so its not like its just coming out of the blue. All in all though this is a pretty great week for all three of Nintendo's download shops.
I can't see anyone complaining about them this week, but I'm sure someone will prove me wrong about that. Because when its anything to do with Nintendo, someone always has something to complain about it on here.
ok now i wish i had a wii.
did anyone ever use the super speed game genie code on the NES? you could jump through the top of the screen and come out the bottom.
i also loved the track editor on excitebike 64. reminded me of RPM racing track editor on SNES.
Monster Games really makes nice racing titles. Been spending time playing getting S ranks and doing some online betting in Excitebots for the past week. I'm sure they've done Excitebike:WR justice.
This is going to be one helluva awesome week!
Very excited!
Excitebike: World Rally! And New SMB Wii this weekend! =)
And, in a few weeks, Castlvania the Adventure Rebirth!

That is just awesome.
Ok sure. I'll play your game.
