Nintendo DLC: Cubes, tennis, ninjas, sims, and cards photo

Nintendo surprises (at least me) this week with an original WiiWare title called You, Me, and the Cubes (1-2 players, 1,000 Wii Points). The physics-based puzzle/action game where players control Fallos, weird human-like creatures whose point of existence is to balance on a field of 3D cubes. Players "create a pair of Fallos inside" the Wii Remote by shaking it, and then determine the best location to place them on the field in an effort to keep them stable. The idea here is to keep the cubes balanced, which is probably trickier than it sounds.

The other WiiWare title available today is Family Tennis (1-4 players, 500 Wii Points). This is a tennis game for four players (maybe your... family!?), and is far easier to explain than You, Me, and the Cubes. Here I go: It's a tennis game for five bucks.

DSiWare gets two releases, the first of which is Clubhouse Games Express: Strategy Pack (1-8 players, 500 DSi Points). Included is "Backgammon," "Field Tactics," "Turncoat," "Connect Five," and "Grid Attack." Five classic games for five bucks! Also available is MySims Camera (1 player, 200 DSi Points) which lets you use the DSi camera to take pictures and then overlay MySims characters into the images.

This week's single Virtual Console releases is Last Ninja 2 (1 player, 500 Wii Points), the Commodore 64 classic that proves you can't keep a good ninja down. Because despite him being the last, this is the sequel to the Last Ninja. So, spoiler alert -- the ninja in The Last Ninja survives. Now he's been transported to future times... Manhattan circa 1988. He doesn't have much to worry about, as this is one year before Jason Voorhees arrived on the island via a party cruise.

And those, my friends, are this week's downloads for Nintendo's systems. Now go spend some money.

MySims camera, WTF?

The Cubes game sounds interesting, I might give it a chance.

I really wish wiiware offered demos. There's just no way I'll buy a game when it just drops on some service. Needs advertising.

@Ben PerLee

I recommend a little site called "YouTube." ;)

Seriously, though, I have seen so many more WiiWare titles being PLAYED via YouTube than most major outlets combined. It is certainly not a replacement for demos, but it beats reading press releases and hoping that IGN does a review (seemingly the only major site that does).

There are many smaller profile sites that review most everything on WiiWare, too.

I totally agree with Ben PerLee. I haven't bought a single WiiWare title so far because I simply don't know if I really wanna spend money on most of them. (of course there are a few exceptions like Megaman 9 etc etc.) still, this week doesn't look all that bad.

if only Retroforce GO! was here to tell us if the games suck or not... :(

I am testing to see if the comment box is broken for main page articles with this comment.

You, Me and the Cubes is good. So is Last Ninja 2. Clubhouse Games Express is ok, but I dislike how it's just part of the full game. You can skip the rest this week.
