Nintendo DLC: Cards, paper planes, Cocoto, and Nobunaga photo

Once again, this week's DSi Shop updates feature zero third-party titles, with two games crawling out of the Nintendo library. Clubhouse Games Express: Card Classics (1-8 players, 500 Nintendo DSi Points) and Paper Airplane Chase (1-2 players, 200 Nintendo DSi Points) both hit the shop today. One is, as you can imagine, a collection of card games. The other has players manueving a paper airplane through the air. Choose wisely.

WiiWare sees an original title today, Cocoto Platform Jumper (Neko Entertainment, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points). This is an interesting release, as the Cocoto series has seen release in European territories on everything from the GameCube to the Game Boy Advance; this would be its first appearance in North America. As expected, it's a platformer where you control Cocoto, a little devil child... thing. Anyone out there from across the pond familiar with the original titles?

Finally, Virtual Console is now home to Koei's classic Nobunaga's Ambition (Super NES, 1-8 players, 800 Wii Points). I was never ambitious enough to get involved in any of this turn-based strategy goodness on any of the ten or so consoles it's been released on. But I have a short attention span. People eat this kind of stuff up, apparently. Do you?

So, Nintendo's new gig is slicing up games that are 4 years old into $5 chunks?

Or guiding a paper airplane?

Oh joy.

Also, isn't this the second Cocoto game to come out in the states? I though Cocoto Fishing Master was released on Wiiware a while back.

@The-Excel:

Thanks for the corrects. I hope you (and other people) realize that some of these stories (like this one) are written in under five minutes. We're not actually dumb. (OK, we might be.)

Are they ever going to release Mighty Flip Champs?? That game has been done forever and I'm frankly getting tired of these crappy first party releases. The only halfway decent game on DSiWare right now is Art Style: Aquia--everything else is either a portion of another game or completely broken (WarioWare: Snapped!). I was really hoping that Nintendo would do a better job on this service than they did on WiiWare, especially since it's pretty much the only major selling point of the DSi for a lot of people, but once again, they proved that they're only in it to make a quick buck while still being as lazy as possible and screwing over all the third party devs. Frankly, I don't see how any third party would want to work with Nintendo given their track record as of late, since Nintendo is sending the message loud and clear that they just don't care. I can't wait for the day when Nintendo is back in last place again--maybe then they'll actually start putting in some more effort.

sweet, more Wario Ware GBA games! (Paper airplane was awesome on that.)

I have never before heard about Cocoto Platform Jumper, but the first thing that struck my mind was pretty much "generic title is generic."

--Wait, didn't there use to be more than one game out a week on Virtual Console?

Wait, does that Nobunaga's Ambition game seriously feature 1-8 players?

What's the story there? Anyone know?

Wait? Nintendo cuts backwards compatability and now sells us parts of NDS or GBA games. I want original content and not my old games again.

Not a single third party game? Perhaps Nintendo is just THAT good?
