It is literally half the game The new one is. Half the characters and levels. Why go backwards? Maybe if it was a little cheaper. I mean 10 fuckin' bucks!?!?

A lot of the levels aren't in Brawl or Melee, though. And characters play differently. And it's still cheaper than the other games. But yeah, Melee pretty much outclassed the first game, though Board The Platforms was MIA.
Still, some people just prefer the feel. It is a bit different. Pikachu, for instance, is a beast.

I still find the Super Smash Bros to be fun, but I don't think it's worth gettin it though, since Brawl is just the same game but much bigger and better.
My friends and I still play Super Smash Bros. at least once a week. Maybe I'll have to retire that old N64 soon... (those controllers are a mess now)
This game has aged well. Me and my friends still play it regularly, even though we play the shit out of Brawl, and when I've gone to Brawl tournaments, there is always a SSB tournament as well.
This game plays quite differently, it's a lot less hectic, so it's somewhat "technical" we could say. Also, I PREFER THE HIT SOUND EFFECTS OF THIS A THOUSAND TIMES OVER MELEE/BRAWL.
Realistic punch sounds don't cut it for me. Give me that weird plastic sound.

Oh Smash, too much fun. Certainly better than those annoying ones that came later with all the extra noise and items. I'd get this but I don't really need it anymore.
Wow is this really the original artwork for the box? Despite owning the game I no longer have said box and I only remember Mario. Link's face, Fox BIFFing Samus. I love this.
I might have to get SSB just for nostalgia. Because despite owning it on N64, there's no way I'm dragging that monstrosity out just to play games at "glorious" 240i resolution upscaled to 1080i on my HDTV.
SSB has not aged well at all, especially when compared to it's descendants. Why anyone would choose this over Melee is beyond me.

Ah, Smash 64. Good times on that one. Already bought it and got my boy Ness unlocked. This kid is an absolute beast here. His later forms are mere shadows in comparison.
