Nintendo can officially f*ck off: No Brawl in Europe until Autumn (update) photo

Okay, this is classic. Just when you think that Europe getting Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the Summer is insulting enough, Reggie Fils-Aime has now come out and stated that we won't be seeing the game at all until Autumn.

When asked about Europe getting Wii Fit and Mario Kart before the United States, Fils-Aime essentially showed off by stating  "Yeah, but they don't get Smash Brothers until fall," smugly trying to appease US gamers by letting them know they get the more anticipated game first -- and simultaneously farting in the face of every PAL-imprisoned Nintendo fan that is still strangely loyal to a company that has no respect for the territory.

While not a direct confirmation, Fils-Aime is a pretty reliable (and apparently happy) source. So rejoice, America, for Nintendo is keeping you happy, and clearly doesn't seem to think Mario Kart is worth your time over Brawl. Apparently production problems and high demand present Nintendo's excuse for this, but I don't buy that for a second. I saw no such problems for Mario Galaxy, or indeed, any game that's been released on other consoles that ultimately show a bit more courtesy to European customers and have way high software attach rates. I am saying right now that I think such an excuse is a straight up lie.

And Nintendo still expects us to feel sorry that people are modding and pirating its systems. Could you really blame a gamer for doing so when the company has repeatedly demonstrated how it neither wants nor appreciates their money?

[Update: The Fall release date has been denied. Fils-Aime supposedly only showed off about Europe getting the shaft on Smash Bros. but didn't actually confirm it would be Fall. Nintendo is still tighter than a Catholic prom date on the actual release, but thanks to smuggles, we still know for a fact that it'll be after the US date.]

This doesn't effect me, but this is bullshit. Nintendo is being absolutely ridiculous. Disgracefully so. And you know what sucks? They'll get away with it. I hate big companies.

I was about to say "At least you can turn in star points for Wii Points" but then I realized that to get star points you would actually have to go out and buy Nintendo games, which is apparently impossible because the ones worth buying don't come out in a timely fashion.

At least it's a better timeframe than the one Animal Crossing was on.

Nintendo can't satisfy anyone outside Japan until there's a Nintendo world in every state, Nintendo plushies/trinkets/keychains and the likes at every retail outlet, and Nintendo gets rid of this silly pay for play ordeal.

Heh, its Nintendo, they've never given a shit about Europe, we got Animal Crossing on cube, what, about a year after the US? They take the piss and yet people still suck their fucking cocks. This is why I could never be a Nintendo famboy, at least Microsoft and Sony get stuff here either the same week as the US, one or two weeks after, or on the odd occasion, a little bit earlier (see The Club and Patapon recently)

Man, I love my nintendos but we really shouldn't have to put up with these sorts of delays these days. Nintendo always seem to be operating one generation behind the competition, and with the wii's hardware that's literally true.

Although this shouldn't surprise me, it is still shocking to see how many ways Nintendo finds to dick us over!

I've got a friend who's got a modded wii and he says it's a pain in the arse to keep updated because of the firmware and because it's not fully hacked yet

Reggie Fils-Aime....what a smug cunny boy

Panda: Not me. I sold my Wii because of the region locking (I'm moving and didn't want to invest further into it) but when I move country, this news has ensured I will not be buying a Nintendo Wii again, at least not firsthand.

I don't see any reason for this game to be delayed this amount of time. In this day and age where you can follow a games development from practically the start, there is NO excuse for this sort of thing.

Well, it's not so bad I guess, I suppose I could play all the other amazing Wii games out there, you know, like erm.... ummm...

I'm seriously regretting purchasing my Wii now

In the end, I know I'll be the fanboy that buys this game no matter how long Nintendo delay it, because dear god, Melee is the only game I've ever been World Standard at.

But I'll be damned if I didn't wish I was living in the 53rd state of America right now.

I've publicly stated it before and I'll do it again. I hate being a British gamer.

Nintendo fucking over the PAL market?

Say it ain't so.

I am astounded at how the Wii continues to do well seeing as the PAL market is the 2nd largest market around, its why the 360 does well without Japan, Japan's tiny compared to the PAL market.

Nintendo fanboys really are complete idiots. Nintendo does this and all they can do is bend over a bit more, spread the cheeks as wide as possible and beg Nintendo for more.

Pirate and mod away fellow PAL gamers, Nintendo deserves it.

Anyone who has worshipped at the altar of Reggie is a fucking moron. The guy pretty much doesn't make any real decisions outside of some marketing ones, and he is pretty much just a mouthpiece for the home offices back in Japan. Before he worked for Nintendo, he was with Pizza Hut where his big success was the....wait for it.....Bitfoot Pizza. Yeah, his big idea was to sell bigger pizzas. He's a goddamn tool.

Just WHAT are they doing in all that time, giving eacother piggyback rides?
Is it the PAL, I don't see how it could take so long because of the PAL region.
It's the goddamn translations again, ain't it?
In America they only need english, and some other languages, true. But here, we have so many goddamn languages all over the bleeding place, and every single one wants the game in their language, that's why we have to wait, wait for them to finnish translating.
Remember the days of last gen, all the games only had a month between regions because it only had english language, but now all the germans, italians, swedish, frensh, polish, spanish, croatian, [infinite list] and the hungarians all need it in their language.
They should keep it in english, so they have to learn english and that way being doing something usefull.
here in the netherlands we don't get translated games, or at least not for the good ones, only the child's games get translated here.
I've been playing english games for my whole life, and because of that this whole rant is lacking typo's, maybe some made out of frustration but still.
I want all games to be in english in this region so they all can and have to learn english (frensh people refuse to, I know because I tried). [/rant]

Also cocks.

How can Nintendo, the company who makes INSANE profits on the Wii and the DS, possibly cite Supply troubles as a reason for this?

Microsoft, 3billion down from warranty troubles can still get Halo 3 out on time, pretty much globally, and meet demand.

Sony, feeling the bruising from bad PR and a poor first year, can pull their shit around and offer bundles and deals in all countries, and again, get their titles in all regions.

Nintendo, there is no excuse.

this is why I sold my DS, This is why I wont buy a Wii, Constantly pushing "insert word here" Training at me, and forgetting to get the games I want to me.

Well played ninty.

is the shortage still on for Wii? Time to sell my PAL one and import a US version.

In fact after playing the last couple of games i bought, sell it and wait for five games to come out that i'd BUY the console for. Stupid impulse buys *grumbles*

I too would like to know what exactly it is that takes Nintendo half a year to ship a game with little dialogue to different countries when other developers manage to do it on the same day.

Please, tell me. Just give us a reason, make it logical for us.

That’s absolutely inexcusable. It’s bad enough that this is happening to begin with, but for Reggis Fils-Aime to act all pompous about it, and to essentially laugh at the misfortune of the entire European market, is ridiculous and it draws my ire — even though I live in New York.

And to think, people hate on EA as a corporation...

@Mxyzptlk: You got a stew going!
