Okay, this is classic. Just when you think that Europe getting Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the Summer is insulting enough, Reggie Fils-Aime has now come out and stated that we won't be seeing the game at all until Autumn.
When asked about Europe getting Wii Fit and Mario Kart before the United States, Fils-Aime essentially showed off by stating "Yeah, but they don't get Smash Brothers until fall," smugly trying to appease US gamers by letting them know they get the more anticipated game first -- and simultaneously farting in the face of every PAL-imprisoned Nintendo fan that is still strangely loyal to a company that has no respect for the territory.
While not a direct confirmation, Fils-Aime is a pretty reliable (and apparently happy) source. So rejoice, America, for Nintendo is keeping you happy, and clearly doesn't seem to think Mario Kart is worth your time over Brawl. Apparently production problems and high demand present Nintendo's excuse for this, but I don't buy that for a second. I saw no such problems for Mario Galaxy, or indeed, any game that's been released on other consoles that ultimately show a bit more courtesy to European customers and have way high software attach rates. I am saying right now that I think such an excuse is a straight up lie.
And Nintendo still expects us to feel sorry that people are modding and pirating its systems. Could you really blame a gamer for doing so when the company has repeatedly demonstrated how it neither wants nor appreciates their money?
[Update: The Fall release date has been denied. Fils-Aime supposedly only showed off about Europe getting the shaft on Smash Bros. but didn't actually confirm it would be Fall. Nintendo is still tighter than a Catholic prom date on the actual release, but thanks to smuggles, we still know for a fact that it'll be after the US date.]
...oh yeah.
Who is the president of NOE? Shouldn't you be cursing him out, Reggie is only responsible for North America.
Either way that really, really blows
Although to be fair, Reggie is not President of NOE, and doesn't even have an amazing track record when it comes to predicting the future of NOA.
Reg is the one who seems to be thinking it's cool that we don't get it.
It's an optical disc, not a cartridge.
These are the games that Nintendo is going to play this console generation. Fake supply problems that make people feel fortunate for being able to buy a Nintendo product.
Well Nintendo, Fuck You! Every time I want a Nintendo product should not be some kind of life event, with camping and scheduling and other rigamole.
Seriously, someone call Nintendo out on this BS, instead of hopping all over their nuts. For real.
Or you can mod your console and stop supporting a company that hates you.
The choice is yours.
Shame on you Nintendo, SHAME on you.
Hooray for America!
...until they release an exclusive version of Dynasty Warriors that only comes with hardware and doesn't get a retail disc edition.
Comon, it is not like Europe is a niche market. What are the actual numbers here? We can't be far behind US sales if at all.
For fucks sake... Next week I'll be buying my mod chip.
Also, ebay.
BTW: Reggie is a dipshit............"DEC 3rd"
WTF, Nintendo?
I would boycott Nintendo games... but I'm getting Brawl in a couple of weeks. I don't want to miss that.
Seriously, you UK boys get fucked every time by Nintendo. Its time to fuck them. Mod your wii. Pirate your wii games. Thats how you can hurt them back. With the new Twilight Princess save-game hack, you may be able to play "backups" on the wii very soon without using a physical mod.
Sony have been looking good lately, and Nintendo are being fucking dicks. It's a complete turn around of a year ago, but there you have it.
I might have a spare modified Wii if anyone wants one, as I think I might be importing a PS3 very soon (it's still cheaper to import a console and pay ridiculous amounts for shipping than to buy one locally, and plus I can then get a model other than the 40GB version, which is the only one available in Australia, but then I can also import games at leisure, since they're all region free, so it evens out).
tl;dr
Fuck Nintendo, hello PS3. I hear Uncharted is awesome.
Oh, I mean... sorry Europe. :P
He can go fuck himself as far as I'm concerned, it's getting to the point that I'm probably not even going to buy Brawl, I'll have a shit load of other games I'll be playing by then. On my PS3.

Am I the only Nintendo fan here that doesn't care about any of these 3 games? [/i]
Yes. Now go away. How can you call your self a Nintendo fan anyway? For how long have you been one, like, two weeks?
Also, Jim. Would all of this matter so much if the gaming community wasn't now such a hodge-podge of different nations? Back in the day this stuff didn't matter. Your country got the game when it came out. It was as if the other countries didn't even exist thus no one heard about the others getting a game earlier or later. If there were an EU-only Destructoid -like website (do you guys even HAVE video game website communities based in your own country you can hang out in?) My point is that since this whole 'internet' thing came to be so widespread, the line between different countries has become very blurred(online)--More and more I go to find information on a game or find people to play online with only to be greeted by a mess of Eurites mucking up the lists. I mean, it's cool that you guys play games, too. It verily sucks, however, when I try to find a game online and am greeted by (generally) unfriendly types (toward 'mericans) and absolutely astronomical latency rates.
Enough about that. I don't see a solution to this problem, I only see the problem itself. It wouldn't matter so much if there wasn't so much cross-oceanic dialog. I mean, they're two different markets, with two different sets of standards (or metrics :P). Less bitching here, more sending complaints to NO(whatever your fucking country is).
That is all.
