Nintendo announces Super Mario 3D World for Wii U

9:11 AM on 06.11.2013

Well, we knew we were going to seeing a new 3D Mario today, but we had no idea what it would turn out to be. Iwata announced this morning on Nintendo's E3 Direct that it'll be Super Mario 3D World! The game takes a lot of cues from Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS.

The game will have a multiplayer component where you can play as either Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad. Each character will have powers much like Super Mario Bros. 2. The new suit this time around is a cat suit; look how adorable it is! The cat suit can scratch enemies and climb walls.

Super Mario 3D World is coming to the Wii U this December.
