As rumored last week, Nintendo today officially announced Pokepark for the Wii. Very little was said about the game, but a briefing held for retailers last week had a few loose-lipped attendees, and they've let a Meowth or two out of the bag.
You'll take control of Pikachu, with your initial objective being to make friends with the other Pokemon at the park. This is done via minigames like tag, battles and quizzes. Once you've earned a few buddies, you can team up with them for more advanced co-op adventures.
Interaction with other Pokemon naturally makes up a big part of the game, and Pokepark is said to feature a screen grab mode, which allows you to take snapshots of your favorites, or any interesting Poke-happenings. Sounds a bit like Pokemon Snap! for Wii, maybe. The game is scheduled for release in Japan on December 5th at 4,800 Yen (roughly $50) and is rumored to include a pack of stickers for pimping out your Wiimote with Poke-things.
I think this game looks f*cking awesome, and I don't care what anyone says about that.

I'll probably buy this like a whore anyways.
Looks...charming. I don't know, I could play to see what it's all about and make reminding the Pokémon names a personal challenge. I used to think a Pokémon game where you had control over your characters would've been trully awesome. And preferably not making it a Shiren-like game. Because let's face it, we've seen Chocobos, people, pokémon, probably Gundams(it's Japan we're talking about here) do it.
Consider me a little bit sold.
I hope "advanced co-op adventures" is code for "real-time 3D combat in dungeons", which I hope is what that screen with the Charizard is showing.
I'll probably end up getting it regardless, I'm a shameless whore for Nintendo's older franchises.
That header was priceless! Topher...you're awesome.
I've been waiting for a 3D pokemon game since n64 days. Also ocarina of time and majoras mask port to nintendo ds, Day Zero purchase.
As for this...eh.
For fucks sake, I bought Pokemon Channel and I loved it.
@Diverse
LIES! No one liked Pokemon Channel!
The entire article had my full attention, and the only thing that didn't sit all too well was the $50 dollar part.
I'm poor. :[
me? I just want a Battle Revolution upgrade, which allows for the new features added in platinum, Gold, and Silver (variable formes, etc.) and perhaps a more cohesive story mode instead of just "fight in this arena, now fight in the next one."
