The planet's temperature is increasing. We all know this. Every Summer seems to be the new hottest on record, and we're rapidly becoming mere space-burgers on the great cosmic barbeque of the sun. Thankfully though, there are games companies out there doing their best to protect us from flame-grilled crispiness by trying to ensure that we won't see daylight for the entirety of the season.
Nintendo have announced their Summer Wii and DS lineup, firmly turning the mighty firehose of gaming justice onto the traditional dry period in the year's release schedules. It's a pretty damn hefty list (hefty like this), with over 40 games spread over both systems between July and September, and it seems that the Wii might finally be getting the momentum kick we've been waiting for.
While new EA Sports updates and a couple of licenses might not be overly exciting, Battalion Wars 2 and Mario Strikers Charged are very promising, and there's also the small matter of this little game called Metroid Prime 3 ...

I immediately thought of Ichi the Killer when I saw the Joker pix. We'll have to see if it's done in a similarly disturbing manner, I suppose, as a simple makeup applied "razorblade smile" isn't terribly convincing unless they use some CG on that.
As for Metroid... Dammit, that's like 10 days before Bioshock and a month before Halo 3. WTF Nintendo! I have a DOA 360 here, and Nintendo could totally take advantage of this lull I've got here.

Mario Strikers I'm not too hopeful for, considering the Basketball game on the Wii was just awful imo.
Jam sessions is about the only thing on DS that interests me, which is rather upsetting as it doesn't look like there's any "killer" DS games out this summer. Looks like I'm on FFIII, Ouendan2 and Pokemans for the summer.

They kept on delaying it to perfect the controls! And I believe they said no multiplayer since Metroid 2 multiplayer sucked. I think I'd rather have a super great Single Player adventure than a decent single player and a lame multiplayer.
