Ninja Turtles brawler coming to the Wii photo

Well, I was excited up until the "Wii" part.

Nevertheless, Ubisoft is bringing a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game to Nintendo's white waggle box, a 2.5D fighter with a variety of modes and an online function which is claimed to beat out Super Smash Bros. Brawl's.

Here are the details that have been shed so far:

-published by Ubisoft
-official development started Jan. 2008
-concept started Oct. 2007
-to be released in Sept. 2009
-2.5D Fighter
-Interactive Stages
-4 player versus
-Story Mode
-Battle Royal
-Tournament
-Winner Stays
-Loser Stays
-Practice
-Unlockable Characters
-Unlockable Stages
-Online aspects said to be better than Brawl implementation
-Each character is color coded with glowing effect to make 4-player battles easy to follow

In addition, the game is said to tie in with no specific part of the Turtles license, meaning it's not entirely based on any of the movies or cartoon shows. One of the game's producers sees this as an extra challenge, claiming that "for this game to succeed on its own it needs to be a great game.”

New Turtles game on the Wii. There you go.

At this point, if any new Ninja Turtle game isn't based on the first 38 comics in the original black and white Image comic series, it isn't worth doing.

Mutt IP turtles worries me more than if they decided to do an Archie comic based game.

Waa.

(But mostly by default, because it's the Wii.)

You forgot to add something very important:
http://gonintendo.com/?p=65857

It seems that former Team Ninja and Smash Bros. Brawl developers are making this game, which should make it pretty good in my opinion! (Unless they pull out another casual-fest like Brawl... That game doesn't hold a candle to Melee honestly, but since Team Ninja people are in there, maybe things will work out just fine!)

Seriously, if you hate the Wii for your own stupid reasons, don't post articles about it. Let someone who has some form of journalist integrity handle it.

A fighter? No no no. They should've done an update of the TMNT brawler. With online co-op, that would be great!

Classic controller support and it could be something to watch.

Granted I haven't played it in forever, but I remember Tournament Fighters being a lot of fun. Not that it's relevant, really.

Well I guess it might be a good game. Well I'll just wait for it to come out before I judge it.

If this is a great game I will cry. I will even post a vid of it.

Wii not having HD still sucks though.

You did it, you got negative about something in the first sentence.

Post the ENTIRE story, so we can decided if your opinions are worth it.

Just because you post 50 stories a day doesnt mean you're credible, it means you dont have a life or you only publish a little bit of the story.

hmmmm reading about the ex-team ninja and SSBB guys working in this games kinda guarantees the game is not going to suck that much.

then again, it's Ubisoft...ubisoft just throws shitty games on the wii.

Thanks Mzen! That sounds much better than this article made it seem. Ubisoft + wii usually = fail, but as long as there is a decent dev behind it, thats all that matters. NMH is a good example.

If this holds up to the original TMNT brawlers, it might actually qualify as a purchase for me.

What the heck? You complain about there not being games that you like on the Wii, and then a game you would admittedly like is coming to the Wii... so you don't like it? Have time to elaborate on that, Jim?

Ninja Turtles could be a good game if they base it off of the old school ninja turtles and not the revamped new one.

That doesn't make one lick of contextual sense.

Also, get an avatar. You no-avatar noobs are all one person to me.

@Pilliy: a quick glance a Wikipedia says that Outrun (1986) was the first game to have 2.5D graphics. But you'll probably hear that the original Doom was a pioneer in 2.5D.

also, @Jim: I'm noticing you attract many of the "Avy-less" lot in your stories. They kind of just show up to take a pot-shot and then fade into the anonymity.

CORRECTION TO MYSELF:

From Wiki:
"The first computer games that used pseudo-3D were primarily arcade games. Atari's 1976 racing game Night Driver was the first driving game to use a pseudo-3D first person perspective."

Can you use the nunchuk as a nunchuck?

Stories of people accidentally hitting themselves in the eye and breaking HDTVs is the only way to get something positive out of this.

Hell if they just make it a game where you use the wii remote like an NES controller I'll be happy. Even if I have to shake it every once in a hwile. Worked pretty well for WarioLand.
