Well, I was excited up until the "Wii" part.
Nevertheless, Ubisoft is bringing a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game to Nintendo's white waggle box, a 2.5D fighter with a variety of modes and an online function which is claimed to beat out Super Smash Bros. Brawl's.
Here are the details that have been shed so far:
-published by Ubisoft
-official development started Jan. 2008
-concept started Oct. 2007
-to be released in Sept. 2009
-2.5D Fighter
-Interactive Stages
-4 player versus
-Story Mode
-Battle Royal
-Tournament
-Winner Stays
-Loser Stays
-Practice
-Unlockable Characters
-Unlockable Stages
-Online aspects said to be better than Brawl implementation
-Each character is color coded with glowing effect to make 4-player battles easy to follow
In addition, the game is said to tie in with no specific part of the Turtles license, meaning it's not entirely based on any of the movies or cartoon shows. One of the game's producers sees this as an extra challenge, claiming that "for this game to succeed on its own it needs to be a great game.”
New Turtles game on the Wii. There you go.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Mutt IP turtles worries me more than if they decided to do an Archie comic based game.
Waa.
Don't comment before coffee . . .
(But mostly by default, because it's the Wii.)

It seems that former Team Ninja and Smash Bros. Brawl developers are making this game, which should make it pretty good in my opinion! (Unless they pull out another casual-fest like Brawl... That game doesn't hold a candle to Melee honestly, but since Team Ninja people are in there, maybe things will work out just fine!)
ALAKAZAM!!!
Granted I haven't played it in forever, but I remember Tournament Fighters being a lot of fun. Not that it's relevant, really.
Post the ENTIRE story, so we can decided if your opinions are worth it.
Just because you post 50 stories a day doesnt mean you're credible, it means you dont have a life or you only publish a little bit of the story.
Haha, okay. It's not like it's my full time job or anything.
Clown.
wouldn't be even if it was for PS6. let's face it, the last good TMNT game was the one for the SNES waaaay back.
then again, it's Ubisoft...ubisoft just throws shitty games on the wii.
That doesn't make one lick of contextual sense.
Also, get an avatar. You no-avatar noobs are all one person to me.
also, @Jim: I'm noticing you attract many of the "Avy-less" lot in your stories. They kind of just show up to take a pot-shot and then fade into the anonymity.
From Wiki:
"The first computer games that used pseudo-3D were primarily arcade games. Atari's 1976 racing game Night Driver was the first driving game to use a pseudo-3D first person perspective."
Stories of people accidentally hitting themselves in the eye and breaking HDTVs is the only way to get something positive out of this.
Seriously Jim? Seriously?
*sigh*
