Ninja Senki delivers slick 8-bit platforming for free photo

If you dug The Tempura of the Dead, there's a decent chance you'll enjoy Ninja Senki, a new -- and totally free -- 8-bit platformer for Windows.

It's got a similar style to that of Mega Man, but the controls feel tighter. Actually, excluding the obviously retro-centric visuals, Ninja Senki feels fairly modern on the whole. All you really need to know is that you can throw shurikens and jump up into the HUD (aka the best part of older titles).

According to the game's site, "skills are required." That is not a lie. Give it a spin.

I found this yesterday morning and have been digging it. It definitely requires skills, I haven't yet made it past the third stage.
I think it's also worth noting that the game was made by Johnathan Lavigne, who also did game design for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It's definitely got the same design choice of more modern, fluid gameplay dipped in a delicious, retro coating.

Played it since I discovered it this morning. Great game, but whoever made the boss for Scene 16 should go Sepukku.

It's a shame Good Indie games like this don't get very much attention, but it wouldn't be very "Indie" if they did....
