Ninja Gaiden invades Dynasty Warriors photo

It's the moment we've all been waiting for. The Tecmo/Koei merger has finally resulted in the inevitable crossover between Ninja Gaiden and Dynasty Warriors, with Ryu Hayabusa slated to appear as an unlockable character in the PS3 version of Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce.

Tecmo will be returning the favor by allowing for unlockable Zhao Yun and Sun Shang Xiang costumes in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Currently, only the PS3 will be enjoying the crossover chicanery, with the Xbox 360 version of Strikeforce getting Nu Wa from Warriors Orochi 2 instead of Ryu. Who the Hell cares about that?

Not quite the auspicious merging of intellectual properties that I'd imagined, but it's something. Can't wait to make Ryu kick Lu Bu's arse.

Well Ryu's my least favourite DOA/NG character, so I suppose I'll just have to look forward to giving him a face full of Zhou Yu's sword.

Nu Wa in Strikeforce makes me pretty happy actually, I like the Orochi characters, as bizarre as some of them are.

Yay all-round I guess.

Is the PS3 version of Strikeforce coming out outside of Japan?

Actually, you can unlock their weapons (Ryu's Dragon Sword and Nu Wa's Celestial Blade) as weapons for your characters, but I don't think they're playable as a character. Just for the quest it seems.

Though, if there's a possibility, I am looking forward to Ryu's Fury mode XD

Lu Bu is a slimy little weasel.

If they took Ryu's Dead or Alive moves, and slapped those in Dynasty Warriors, then I'd be impressed.

DYNASTY WARRIORS IS COOL NOW

Well to be fair the Strikeforce series has been impressive so far. Still won't buy it but maybe now I'll play it.
New costumes for NGS2 are always a plus for me.

I wonder if DW Strikeforce will become 100% more easy now because of how much ass he kicks. I mean, he's not some lame Chinese conqueror guy, he's Ryu fucking Hayabusa.

Awesome, I look forward to this. I hope he appears in Dynasty Warriors 7. It will happen.

Well I hate to say it, but.. this might be kinda cool.... despite the fact the gameplay might be the same.

Team Ninja needs to do a DW game methinks.

I'm still hoping for the announcement of Warriors Orochi Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Diao Chan in DOA5?

I don't usually complain about stuff like this, but why the hell is Ryu a PS3 exclusive? I'm aware that they're using him to promote Sigma 2, but up until recently, Team Ninja was basically XBOX-exclusive.

Ryu looks pretty lame in the Zhao Yun outfit, but Ayane looks cute as Sun Shang Xiang.

Frankly, I think that while Tecmo Koei get plenty of money out of Dynasty Warriors and Ninja Gaiden, its unfortunate that they have become a one trick pony more or less. Even with cheaper chances to make games and try out new things on XNA,PSN etc, they seem to fail, IMO.

What I want to see from them is new IP. The new Metroid game is a right step, but I want more imagination and creativity from them, since that's a licensed IP.

Better yet, where is Ninja Gaiden 2 on DS?

The DOA Series started on the Playstation, and the first Ninja Gaiden game ever was on the NES. So there goes the whole "Xbox exclusive" thing. Also Ninja Gaiden has sold more on the PS3 then the 360. Jaoanese game, Japanese, Company , Japanese console, makes sense to me.

Well, if you're going back to DOA1, it actually started on Sega Saturn, not PlayStation. And I specifically said Team Ninja, not Ninja Gaiden. I'm aware that the series began in arcades, moved to NES then Genesis.
Also, I said basically. I know DOA 1 and 2 were ported to PS and PS2, but ever since Sega left the console business, Team Ninja basically set up shop on XBOX consoles, with each new game being developed originally on those consoles, with only NG and NGII ported over.
If we don't get Ryu, at least give us Ayane or Momiji, but Nu Wa?

Itagaki's gone. I'm a long time supporter of Team Ninja too, but Itagaki going literally killed off the team anyways. They've lost my support just on that alone. And I mean look at the style the company has adopted lately? Itagaki was always toeing that line of indecency, but he never compromised game quality for it (DOAX's arguably aside...), but its clear that the new Tecmo and Team Ninja are willing to. WHERE ARE YOU ITAGAKI T.T
