Ninja Gaiden and Rygar arcade games rated by ESRB for VC photo

If you were worried about the low quantity of Virtual Console releases as of late, there are still good things a-comin'. Over on the ESRB website, Siliconera spotted ratings information for the arcade versions of Ninja Gaiden and Rygar. Good times.

Both of these games are pretty different from the ports that gained popularity on the NES. Ninja Gaiden is a beat-em-up instead of a run-and-gun platformer and it has some really great art and animations. Rygar is less of a departure, but doesn't have the world exploration aspect that the home console port features, which is a big part of its appeal for me.

No idea when we can expect them to release, but ESRB rarely lets us down when it comes to premature announcing of upcoming titles.

I thought that arcade game was Ninja Gaiden... but everywhere I looked on the internet, it was called Shadow Warriors. I did remember it being in the arcade as Ninja Gaiden though. It is an awesome game.

From the ESRB on Ninja Gaiden: "In one area of the game, a background mural shows a man in a tight-fitting leather outfit that exposes portions of his buttocks."

Hey, even a ninja can be bi-curious in the big city.

Ninja Gaiden arcade is evil. It will kill you. Kill you dead.

And Rygar arcade is no slouch either. The only person I've ever met who could beat it is my mom.

She's got ninja thumbs.

Hooooly shiiiit.

I just got hit by a nostalgia wave from that screenshot. I had totally forgotten that screen had been burned into my childhood memory.

@Steel Squirrel: Shadow Warriors is what the game was called in Europe

Rygar was a definite staple of my childhood... Such a good game (for its time). It's pretty brutal, though, but that made it all the more fun.

Except a bug I probably continually encountered where I couldn't level up my damage to the cap, meaning the last boss was fucking IMPOSSIBLE! It didn't matter how hard I tried, I was only doing 1/10th of the damage I was supposed to when fighting him, and you just can't outlast that kind of gap.
