Sure, ninjas have style, but it's kind of the all-black thing that makes it their signature. Some people may prefer their ninjas decked out in something a little less basic, or at least that's what Team Ninja hopes with the release of their new Ninja Gaiden II DLC packs.
You can choose from one of three new costume packs that allow you to outfit Ryu in five different colors of each costume. They are called Biometal, Shadow Walker or Fiend, and each will set you back 200 Microsoft points. Ouch, right? Apparel is pricey enough these days in the real world, but then you have to go home and decide what's best to wear to impress your enemies before you disembowel them. It's that first impression that counts, you know.
Will you pass on Ryu's new apparel, or is it too sexy for you to pass up?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Oh well, it would only be cool for the first ten minutes playing with it, I'd assume anyway.
Crazy
My guess is that it is on the disc. You're just paying to unlock it.
(if Tecmo do please send 40% of all royalties made to Justice)
Anyway, as someone who's a big enough fanboy to download them all, I'll give my impressions:
All costumes have Black, Red, and Silver variants. The other two colors are dependent on the outfit.
Shadow Walker- It's cool-looking from the front, his facemask has this falcon thing going on over the mouth, and you can see his eyes. Unlike the rest, instead of a scarf, there's a piece of fabric that hangs off the back of his head and can look a bit like straight hair. The rest of the costume looks like Ryu's starting outfit from NG1 (the basic purple getup). The only thing besides the scarf thing that bugs me about this costume is that it has extended shoulder pads that his weapons can clip through. The other two colors are green and blue.
Biometal- this one grew on me. His facemask looks pretty retarded at first, but having just played MGS4, I didn't mind the single glowing eye. The rest of the outfit looks like his old Ashtar costume from NG1, but with a scarf this time. The "veins" in the costume glow- reminded me of Jehuty from ZOE a bit. Other two costume colors are green and orange.
Fiend- this was the first one revealed, and it looks absolutely ridiculous and cool sortof. He has a lot of body spikes coming off his thighs andelbows and stuff, the mask has a weird goblin nose on it, the scarf is torn, but what really gets me about this one is if you look at his groin ares, there's a goddamn face on it. It's eye-catching and really gay. Other two colors are purple and white.
I hope that helps someone.
Is Tecmo and/or Team Ninja suffering that bad they have to do such a thing to customers?
DLC should be for adding value and longevity, instead it's used for money grubbing and nickel & diming people (though you gotta be pretty rabid and/or dumb to pay for this kind of shit anyway).
I can't wait to see the Sims 3 on a console, oh boy oh boy, all those clothing collections to charge people for.
Of course, if BigHugeGames ever released Cities and Knights for Catan, that'd be a different story...
These costumes are equivalent to those damn idolm@ster planes in Ace Combat 6. If you get boners from the game and the dlc then you'll buy it. If you're flaccid then move on and spend your points on something else.
Now if you're just cheap, then wait a few months and maybe these will be free to download.
its not like you have to buy it. If you want it and cant afford the 200 MS points dont come crying how they are wrong for charging.
no they are not. if you needed them to play the game it would be wrong. If you dont want them dont buy them. I personally like the fact that they have it there for me to purchase if I like.
Im glad they gave us some options. Sure it would be nice if they were on the disc, but they werent. Get over it.
I bought the bio costume and this its great. Best 2.50 I have ever spent.
(thats not even a pack of cigarettes for crying out loud)
get a job!
dude, you are killing that game!!
Why is it that when people complain about outrageous DLC pricing someone always has to say, "Wahhh, get a job!". Hey, I've got a job, I can afford to pay $2.50 for these way too expensive virtual costumes.
Don't try to justify your purchase, to yourself, by coming down on consumers who choose to believe that this item is severely overpriced.
200ms points($2.50) = "That much for one costume? WTF!"
40ms points($0.50) = "I can't just buy 40ms points from MS? I have to buy 400? WTF? Waste of 360ms points."
So what's the real problem? The fact that 80ms points equals $1.00.
It's like horse-armor in Oblivion. I thought it was fucktarded, but my friend bought it and loved it. He doesn't play Ninja Gaiden like I do, and therefore can't understand why I would spend 600 points to get 3 outfits.
It's pretty pointless to argue over it- don't like it? Don't buy it. You're not missing out unless you really like to look different while killing things.
Get your common sense, and logic off my internet.
/sarcasm
haha
Now if it was a totally different character/weapon/SOMETHING that adds more to the game itself the price might be worth it to more people. Maybe the Mission Pack will be worth it though unless it's ultra cheap I can't see it being resonable.
