Ninety-Nine Nights II coming to Europe and Australia photo

We found out a while back that the sequel to the crazy hyped, but eventually disappointing Ninety-Nine Nights was coming out in Japan. That was way back in 2008, and we hadn't heard anything about it landing outside of Japan since then until earlier this week when Konami revealed the game would be landing in North America as well. But what about Europe? Are you guys going to be lacking some hack-and-slash action?

Nope. Konami just shot over a release announcing that the game will be coming to Europe and the Asia Pacific area as well. Rejoice... or not. The first game was pretty boring all around. If you are hoping for some improvement over the previous game (Collette didn't see it) and think N3 2 will give it to you and you live in Europe then you'll just have to wait until an undisclosed date in Q2. I guess confirmed dates aren't cool with Konami's European and Australian branches.

I'm actually really looking forward to it. Despite N3's sloppy nature, there actually wasn't that much that needed fixing to be a worthy Crowd Control game. The biggest issue was simply the collision detection, where hits simply wouldn't connect right with enemies. This wasn't such a problem with the regular grunts because a single attack would most likely slay them, but it made boss battles ridiculous to the point that you could risk it all on an attack that has an apparently random chance of inflicting either a killing blow or absolutely no damage whatsoever.

I think so long as they actually work on this one it could still be a worthy genre title. That's the important thing to note, is that unlike Sengoku Basara N3 is almost entirely generic, but I believe that's not really a bad thing. Delivering a generic fantasy style Dynasty Warriors experience wasn't the mistake the first time around, it was simply that the game wasn't finished.

I quite like Ninety Nine Nights. It wasn't a perfect game, but is was entertaining, to say the least. I hope the sequel is even better.

Christ, why is it that every Valve thread either mentions HL2: Episode Three or wanting a new engine, or complaining how they don't make PS3 games? Christ people, are we that starved for complaints that we must regurgitate the same 3-4 arguments every time a Valve thread is made?
