Nightwing brings night, wings to DC Universe Online photo

Sony Online Entertainment has revealed that Nightwing will appear in the upcoming PlayStation 3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online.

Of course, this is no surprise. It's the "universe," guys. That's like, everything. The list of DC characters that will appear in the game is staggering, everyone from Superman to Batzarro, Congo Bill to Two-Face. So Nightwing should be no exception, what with his little pieces of black hair hanging down in front of his face. His father, General Zod, should be proud. [As pointed out to me by grebweb, the Nightwing pictured here is the original, Dick Grayson. Comic geeks, forgive me, for I have sinned.]

While MMOs on consoles haven't quite lived up to PC expectations, what I've seen of DCUO looks solid and well-adapted to the PS3. And if it's going to be awhile before I have to fight off the massively online zombie hordes, then DC super heroes will do.

DC Universe Online is tentatively schedule to ship sometime next year.

Hey Nick. Hate to post this, but my inner comic book fanboy has to correct you. The Nightwing pictured above is Dick Grayson, the original Robin. General Zod is the father of the current Nightwing, who flies around like Superman and doesn't fight with sticks..
Here's a picture of General Zod's son:

@gregweb:

I got called out... twice! I'll make the correction. I knew I had gotten SOMETHING wrong...

@Locke:

The one with the zombies in it, maybe. Or this one. Most likely, I'll be too busy to play any one MMO. I think I'd be more inclined to spend some time with one if I had a gaming PC that I could depend on.

Looks like SOMEONE looked up Nightwing in Wikipedia. There WERE 2 Nightwings. One is Chris Kent, and he's currently filling in for Superman in Action Comics. The other one (and the one pictured in the article) is Dick Grayson, aka the current Batman and the first Robin. Now, in DC comics, there's only one Nightwing, but that's only cause Grayson took over for Batman.

Weren't there like a billion Nightwings? Last I heard (admittedly, I'm not actively reading ANY comic right now), it was General Zod's son. I was wrong, and I've corrected it accordingly. :)

See, this is why I write for a videogame Web site and not ComicToid! Thanks for correcting me/putting me in my place.

Both wear tight blue and are called Nightwing. No reason to get upset. I just wanted to make sure you knew. :D

Isn't Dick the current Batman?

All I want to know is, will they have The Question?

Yes he is, but I think DC Universe online is going for the more "classic" portrayals, and that means Bruce Wayne is Batman, and Tim Drake is Robin, and we don't get Red Robin at all. Maybe there will be an eventual update to advance the timeline?

Bruce tried to shoot Darkseid but got blasted back in time. Dick took up the mantle with Damien (Bruce's assassin son by Talia Al Ghul) as his Robin. Different but Dick actually works very nicely as the apprentice stepping up.
