I imagine a lot of people are excited for NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams on the Wii, mainly because it's a videogame for Nintendo's system and not a plastic board that you can stand on with realtime board-standing physics. It's an actual videogame, I promise. We have some bad news though, coming from NiGHTSintodreams.com, pertaining to delays. According to those guys, you won't be able to get your hands on SEGA's aerodynamic jester until Q1 of 2008.

It might not help, but to take the edge off, here are some shakycam gameplay videos of NiGHTS in action. There's one above and one after the jump, showing what I think is a very pretty, bright looking game trying to shine out from the muddy visuals and poor quality that it's trapped within. We take what we can get here at Destructoid.

Jim, while the delay of that game is saddening, what is even more disheartening is your very true statement that the wii has no games for it. While we are getting Metroid Prime 3 by the end of the month, besides this game, and Zelda, I have not found a worthy game to purchase for the system.

Nintendo seams to be doing just fine without any decent games though, since we all know how fun doing fake bowling motions are.

This holiday season is already too crowded, I think this can only help the game. Seriously, with Mario, Smash Bros., Zelda on DS, and other stuff that's already out but I haven't gotten around to purchasing, I think I'll be fine.

Nintendo needs to quit putting awesomeness such as Nights, Metroid, and Smash Bros on the Wii, and like, put them on video game consoles or somesuch. They can keep their Zelda though.

I would love to believe that this game will end up being great, it won't though. This is Sonic Teams' effort, and I think that, given a two week crash course in game development, my cat would have a better understanding of vieogames than these guys.

This game will be mediocre at best, unfortunately.

All my excitement for this game has just flown out the window. Sega turned my beloved Nights into a point and click adventure game. By looking at the footage, you're just leading the character on a leash. Why in God's name did they have to alter the control scheme like that! WHY?!?! In any case, this just better be one of the ways to control your Nights. If not, then I fear there will be a strong disconnect with the Nights and it will end up playing like a pet sim.

@calpis - Sega already said the game can be played with or without nunchuck, that means there will be AT LEAST two control schemes. I figure one is a combo analog stick and Wii-mote, the Wii-mote only one is prolly whats in this video. I would imagine this would be called th "easy" control scheme.

Who knows though, Sega is good at fucking stuff up.
