Nifty UMD-shaped PSP device stores four memory sticks photo

Face it: there are plenty of gamers out there that will never find themselves sticking a UMD into their PlayStation Portable. It doesn't matter if they're A/V fiends, legal beagle downloaders or homebrewers; if there's no UMD in the PSP slot, it's basically wasted space.

Why be wasteful? Team Xecuter isn't. That's why they're announcing their newest creation: the UMEMD for the PSP. This UMD-shaped device that can store up to 4 memory sticks. With the memory in place, this device can then be slotted in the PSP just like a normal UMD disc. This simple solution lets you game without worrying where you put your data.

Maxconsole says that the UMEMD begins shipping in about two weeks, and prices will be announced shortly.

Too bad they couldn't work in a thin ribbon cable that would come out the PSP slot and go into the memory stick port. That way, all the cards could be accessed without opening and switching.

wow thats pretty cool idea.

I have 3 memory cards I always carry around. One and a half for games, some movies I put to show watch Rambo4/Cloverfield and one mem full for just music. getting this would be very useful + safer that I dont loose by misplacing my memories.

Hope the price isnt too expensive, but then again, this is very useful for modded PSP's

When I saw this on another site, I was wondering what the hell it's good for. I have a thing that'll hold memsticks and it's shaped like a umd. But since you can put it into the umd slot of the actual psp, that's pretty badass.

Kind of cool. I have a 4 gig and a couple extra sticks (maybe 1 gig and 512 MB) that would be nice to carry around.

Great, with all my two and four gig mem cards, I need a case to carry around my entire PSP game library. Suckers to those who pay for something that's practically free.

I've got an 8GB stick. I really have no need for extra memory cards.

Moar memory than you can shake a memory stick at.

Seems like a lot of work and extra baggage to me. I don't own a PSP yet, but when I get one I'm not going to look to increase the number of items I carry around with me. With my DS I have a pretty nice hard shell blue case that holds it and up to about 16 DS games (or 2 GBA and 8 DS) without a lot of space. I'm looking for the same thing when I get a PSP.

Nice, im totaly gonna make one of these in my laser. I compleyle disagree with loki, real owners like me know that thier "homebrews" only fit 2-3 per 2gb mem stick. I have a bag that i keep my extra battery and 3 extra 2gb sticks, this would be awesome to help lighten my load when i cant bring the extra bag.

sweet I'd get it if I had a UMD-slot available on my PSP, which I don't since there's always a game in it :p
