The official Web site for Square Enix's brand new action game Nier has been updated with a bunch of fresh screenshots. Most of you remain cynical about this title, and rightly so, since it comes from the same people responsible for Bullet Witch and Drakengard 2. Regardless, I have a massive bonk-on for big, dumb action titles, so I'm going to give it a chance.
The screens look rather simplistic at the moment, with rather uninspiring environments. This is atypical for a Square Enix game, which usually looks beautiful if nothing else. Hopefully these are just early shots and we'll see it looking a lot better in the future. For now, what do you think? Have you had enough of hack n' slash games, or are you willing to give Nier a chance?

But seriously, I'm predicting 6s and 7s for this game: I'll get it in the bargain bin, but I'll get it. A big budget hack n' slash from Square Enix? I can't miss it!
I think it looks pretty fuckin cool. Hopefully we'll see some serious gameplay pretty soon.
i'll give it a chance, but COME ON SQUE!!! where were the FFXIII: Versus screens and announcements at E3? am i the only one who's more excited about versus than the main title?

Because we saw the last trailer for it: did you?
It was the most generic looking game ever, WAY more than the initial God of War footage we saw. At least Kratos talked, and scowled a bit during that. Here, he's just hacking some enemies in a very drab world, without any "special" abilities or weapons being shown.
The main character makes me wish there was a sequel to Vagrant Story.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the header pic was that it looked like they took Rygar (from his Wii outing) and threw him in a Vagrant Story filter.
