Today, Activision released a developer diary for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. You can view the video after the break. I suggest you do, simply because the texture work on the mutant protagonist’s sideburns is superb. Finally, a developer has created a game that takes facial hair seriously.
I suppose I’m selling the developers a bit short. X-Men Origins: Wolverine appears fun and every bit as violent as Nick indicated at New York ComicCon. I’m especially digging the amount of blood in the game. Check out Wolverine’s shirt and skin as he takes damage. Juicy stuff.
We’ll have a new preview of the game shortly. While you wait, I suggest you ponder how terrible the movie the game is based on is going to be. I have a suspicion that last line of dialogue in the video is from the motion picture.
@chronoswing I haven't watched it yet, but i flipped through the leaked film, the placeholder stuff is pretty amusing though- esp the scenes where jackman is in the harness flying around- it is kinda like watching a behind the scenes take
Cool. The lunge thing seems like a total rip off of the combat system from Spider-Man Web of Shadows but that's not really a bad thing. Web of Shadows was a good game and unlike the other Spider_man games it really did have a good combat system. I'm sick of hearing the "this movie game wont suck" line though. Usually when people say that the games turn out horrible or at best forgettable and even if it does turn out well it still wont be the first. Another Spider-Man game (Spider-Man 2) was freaken great for its time and it was based on a movie and made it into stores in time to coincide with the films release.
I watched a work print of the movie yesterday (piracy: it makes life better) and I definitely think it was better then X-Men 3 but even aside obviously having incomplete special effects and missing color correction and other problems there where things that I can't help but think will still seem stupid even in the final draft. It wasn't bad though. If you want to watch a super hero action film I recommend checking it out when it hits theaters.
As for the "I'm the best at what I do, What I do isn't very nice" line that is in the movie but it isn't said is such a overly pissed off cartoonish way.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Finally a game where a regenerating healthbar wouldnt be total bullsh*t.

Somebody's gonna get raped for it though.
