Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Polish developer Nibris has been busy -- between not releasing any footage of Sadness and losing publishers (and getting new ones), they've been working on Raid Over the River and Double Bloob, a shmup and a puzzle game, respectively, for the DS. Even more, Nibris recently announced a third-person, full-color horror game for the DS: Children of the Night. On top of that, it seems that Sadness is still being developed, with a tentative release schedule of Q4 of next year.

Whew.

I find myself quickly becoming a sort of polygonal St. Jude - the patron saint of lost causes. Between Too Human and Sadness, I don't know if I can bear any more vaporware. But alas, I'm keeping my hopes up, as it seems that Nibris has found a new, albeit unnamed, publisher, after splitting with Frontline in March.

The big news here is that Sadness is still being developed and may see the light of day sometime next year. Even better, we may get our grubby paws on some conrete footage, something nobody has as of now, at the Leipzig Games Convention or E for All.

Personally, I commend Nibris for taking the time to make "sure that Sadness is as good as they want it to be." Their Miyamoto-esque approach to game development will hopefully result in polished and smooth gameplay.

Other tidbits include the fact that Nibris has no plans for Sadness DS, nor will the game use WiiConnect24

Speaking of the DS, Nibris just announced a new, full-color horror game called Children of the Night. Next to nothing is known about the upcoming title (I can't even find a press release), as it's still in the creative stages. A Nibris game in the development stages with little other available information? No way!

The only mention of the new DS horror title is a Cubed3 EXCLUSIVE announcement, http://www.cubed3.com/news/8310/.

I really liked the idea of Sadness, and the possibilities with the Wiimote. It was like they were making an Alone in the Dark: Wii-style.

Evaporated?

It is coming out on multiple systems so maybe it is waiting to be released with Uwe Boll's sequel to it? Cause you knowk those movie tie-in games always bring in the big cash!

I think they are making a new Alone in the Dark game. I remember someone posting a video of it. There was this guy and he was going along the outside of a 20+ story building. I think it was for the 360.

Sadness certainly looked like the best Umbrella simulator for the Wii, can't wait to never see it.

Alone in the Dark was said to be for PS3 and 360 but now it is coming to the DS and maybe Wii. It was in New York and centersa round Central Park.

I think we are all already playing Sadness, seeing as how we're very sad that it still isn't out.

Someone call me when Nibris does some other than show concept art and talk a lot of fancy s**t. The difference, Orc, between Sadness and Too Human is that Too Human's not only been seen, but it's been played. Silicon Knights is a known developer whose projects (and good ones) have seen the light of day, and Nibris just talks to Cubed 3 and posts messages on Web site message boards.

That's great. Whatever. Put up or shut up, already. You guys actually waiting on Sadness (or any other Nibris title) are being punk'd.

I can't wait to be proven otherwise.

Nah, not waiting really Nick. I like the concept, but as you say, they should put up or shut up.

Hmm this is only good news methinks. I'm glad it hasn't disappeared completely, and that they're taking their time with it rather than rushing out a shoddy mess.

Hopefully not gonna end up as vapourware though. That makes me a sad panda.

Good games take time. Besides, it's not like there are many developers aretaking the time to offer a high quality exclusive, original and mature gamewith a big budget for the Wii.Who knows? If Sadness comes out, it may be for the Wii what Resident Evil 4 was for the GameCube.

Waiting sucks. :(
Nibris shouldn't torture us like this when they announce a game so early on and is now not expected to come out for years and they barely reveal any info and details about the game.

For the record, earlier this year Nibris promised to release a new and proper trailer for Sadness.Perhaps Nibris may give us a very short, but sweet trailer of the game or even 1 freaking screen shot at the at E For all game event (Oct. 16th) and/or at the Leipzig game event (August 22nd) because they did hint at possibly showing something at these events in the interview and we all hate how developers make empty promises.

Sadness : Ignorance is bliss.

@ Nick Brutal Chester

Note the emphasis on the "B" and "S" in their logo.
Which, given it's current design, could also be misread as "riBpiS"

I've been waiting on Raid Over the River, if only because I've been waiting for a new River Raid since forever. Best SHMUP on Atari 2600 EVAR!
