No possible DS version localization makes me a sad panda, but the fact we're actually getting it at all more than makes up for it.

I usually don't care for JRPGs but the graphic style in this one is just too good for me to pass up. I'll definitely be picking this one up on release.
This game sure is pretty, maybe this will get my gf who is crazy into studio ghibli to play on my ps3.
No reason not to localize the DS version since DS games can still be played on the 3DS, which means you have a two birds with one stone scenario. You make the people who still just have the DS extremely happy and a happy customer is more likley to buy your future handheld. And people who already adopted the 3DS aren't left out in the cold since its reverse compatible......

yea it will probably never be localized. First it has a huge book that needs to be translated. second because of that book retailers here probably wont accept it because of the book that is needed. Of course I could be wrong. At least we are getting this. Looks great.
It'd be kind of silly to not release the DS version...they'd probably sell more copies on that platform considering its likely target demographic.
I hope the DS version gets localized too. The problem is that the game was released with a book in Japan, which was required to solve some puzzles. A localization of the game would have to include the book as well, increasing the costs, it's really a shame. Well, but there's hope.

A while ago, Level-5 made a poll of games in Facebook saying that depending on what game got the most votes they would make it a priority to localize, and Prof. Layton vs Ace Attorney won hands down, so we can be pretty safe that we'll see it in English.

Haha, I'm just more excited for Layton vs Phoenix now. I had already beaten all 3 localized Layton games, but I just got started on Phoenix Wright this week (I'm on the 3rd case) and I love it. I guess my comment was just an obligatory localize these games too, Level-5 is awesome I'm hoping good things come out of their recent American-international studio.

Your comments pretty much sum up why it's kind of pointless to bring it to the 360 as well. The audience for this type of game is mainly on the PS3, and has been playing JRPGs ever since the first PlayStation or on the SNES. I wish less JRPGs came out on the 360 early in its lifespan, because when they didn't meet sales expectations I think Japanese devs took that to mean this kind of game doesn't sell in America, when it was really just a case of what type of person buys an Xbox versus what type buys a PS3.
So yeah, no 360 version is completely fine with me, and I don't see why you would care to post a comment about it if you're not even going to play it because "lol it has a stupid name".

Yep I'm also super excited, especially since the next Prof. Layton game already has a US release date, awesome stuff! I recommend you to get all kinds of wrong answers in the Ace Attorney games, sometimes it has some of the funniest reactions you'll get out of the game.

The PS3 version is very different from the DS version. I just imported the DS version from Japan and it is THE BEST thing I have ever bought. The hardbound(!) book that comes with it is worth the price of admission alone thanks to some of the most beautiful artwork ever filling all of its pages with maps, monsters, weaponry, armor, spells, and lots more. 400 or so pages of content that would need to be translated. The game itself has LOADS of voiced dialogue as well so it would be quite the process to localize this too. Hopefully they will though because everyone should get to enjoy this amazing adventure.

If you can't pronounce the name of this game, then you need to retake your lower-level English classes to learn basic pronunciation. It's not hard.

I've heard good things about this game. What is the game about? What kind of game is it?
Also, if it's as good as people said it is, then I also wish for the localization of the DS version. More great DS games are never a bad thing.
