Nexuiz coming to XBLA and PSN in 2010 photo

Remember those old-timey fragfest FPSes? The ones that got your mouse-palm all sweaty as you reduced opponents to giblets and sprays of viscera on poorly textured arena walls? A new (old) one is set to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN. It's called Nexuiz, and if you're familiar with the PC scene, you may have checked it out.

Developed now by IllFonic, Nexuiz is the kind of teeth-rattling FPS experience that isn't too common on the downloadable platforms. It was originally an Alientrap Software open-source joint, but now IllFonic is taking it to the next level, polishing up the visuals and ostensibly making it a console-friendly experience. Expect it to hit at some point in 2010.

Looks...ok? I'm just happy to see the increased focus on XBLA and PSN. I remember a few years ago when weeks would pass by with no XBLA releases.

Wasn't Quake 3: Arena already announced for XBLA?

@mrandydixon

iD said it was "almost done" a year ago, which means the game is probably hanging in limbo. Too bad as I'd love to see it. Although what I'd love MORE is a Live/PSN port of UT99...

Sooo the Conduit is coming to XBLA/PSN? Cool!

Oh come on, you can clearly see the comparisons, design wise. Except this will be HD, no motion waggle business, and no god damned 16 digits codes to connect with other people. Cool!

Cellfactor a fine arena shooter released last year on 360, but there's no community to speak of which is a shame. Taking off my nostalgia goggles, I can see why because arena shooters have pretty dated gameplay, even one with interesting powers like Cellfactor has.

@Stinky
I bought Cellfactor right after it came out last year, and convinced one of my friends to get it to. It was a fun game, but the ability to switch teams during matches just ruined it for me. And all the f*cking dual-wielding Guardians.

there are much better open source shooters out there, but none that would work well on a pad, just like quake 3 won't be good on xbla, neither would ut99, both need much more control for movement than a pad offers you, oh well :(
