Next week on XBLA, Steam: The Secret of Monkey Island SE photo

LucasArts has announced that The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will be hit both Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam for PC next week, on July 15.

The enhanced remake of the original PC title, Secret of Monkey Island, features new character art, environments, and supports up to 1080i widescreen resolution. It features a fancy new re-recorded and re-mastered score, a streamlined interface, as well as all-new voice work.

The game will run players on Xbox 360 800 MS Points, which translates to $9.99 on Steam. Who’s thinking about picking this one up?

I'll likely be picking this one up. I missed out on it in the 90's, so I'm amped.

I'm getting this as soon as I have the dough. Though it makes me wish I had a 360 to get it on instead, my PC is old & slow.

Totally getting it. I remember having it for Sega CD, and it taking me an entire day to figure out the Grog/jailbreak puzzle.

Absolutely going to grab this one--eventually. Sounds like it'll be a great package, and the price is right.

FUCK YES

The first (and only) Monkey Island game I've played was Escape, and I loved it despite it being touted as the worst in the series. I tried playing the others but couldn't because of the dated graphics. Now that problem has been overcome. :)

I'm getting it on PC. Never played any of the monkey island games before.

If only they'd brought in Steve Purcell for the high res graphics rather than Filter McPhotoshop.

I don't even know if it's gonna run on my 4-year old PC, but I'm getting this just because it'd be like going back to your childhood home and finding it has been renovated and, uh, it's hi-def now. and stuff.

I'm genuinely psyched for the new soundtrack.

I'm the same as @JamnOnTheOne... I wants it in hard copy. Trouble is the retail one'll most likely be released months later and cost £25 :s

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck YES! I'm off work next week too, bonus! I should have finished the first Tales of Monkey Island by then.

I saw the announcement posted elsewhere but there was no price announced, I'm glad this is going to be $10, I think that selling it for much more would have been a mistake.

Just to ensure my part is done to encourage future adventure game revivals, I will be buying BOTH. That's a pretty damn good deal, considering my beat up copy for the Sega CD ran me $25 at TMG this year.

I will definitely buy. I was a huge adventure fan back in the day playing Myst, Riven, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Discworld 1 & 2, but I never played the Monkey Island games for some reason...well, now I will!

I am a bit ashamed to say that I've never actually played the original. For $10, I will ABSOLUTELY be getting this on Steam.

If it's going to be the same price for us in Europe, I might consider it.

Otherwise, I spend my PC gaming money on GOG.com.
