Actually, the book is referring to the month of the year 1E2920, the ninth month of the final year of the First Era. However, technically, both spellings are acceptible.
Think of that series of books as a romanticized retelling of the events of the final year of the First Era of the Tamrielic Empire, in a similiar vein as "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" novel (upon which the Dynasty Warriors games is heavily based) is a romantization of that era in China's history.

Just to clarify, from what I can gather, the month was called Heart Fire in both Arena and Skyrim, but called Hearth Fire in TES II-IV and in the in-game books (most of which were written for Morrowind I believe).
I kinda like it. These types of linguistics, make the lore seem that much more real. Plus, Heart Fire sounds more Nordic anyway. I can believe they kept the term in Skyrim.

What about parallels to Viking mythology and culture? The thing with the Nords is pretty obvious, but aside from that the only other thing I've noticed is a possible Talos/Odin connection. I kinda wish they'd use a Thor-like character in a future DLC, but it would probably seem like a cheap attempt to cash in on someone else's work.

First three comments made me chuckle. Just got the game a month ago so I'm working my way through it steadily, which reminds me I could be playing right now.
Can't wait... and THIS is how devs should be looking at discouraging used game sales. I still have my copy of Skyrim and won't trade it in because I want to buy the DLC. I finished the original game awhile ago (platinum trophy and all major quest lines) but will keep it and wait on the various DLC offerings.
It's a good thing I've started up a new Skyrim Character. I'm a little sad to have not seen More DLC sooner though.

lol because not only can I use Elder Scrolls Wikia, in my case, I've also written a lot of it too. That was what I used to do in my free time before Dtoid.
