You take a game that has only a small following, on the Wii, so most of the small fanbase is probably hardcore Nintendo, and you make a spinoff on a handheld made by Sony pursuing a different demographic.
What could possibly go right?
A good game is a good game. If Little King's Story only managed to find a small audience on the Wii, then changing platform might be a smart move for them. They get access to a whole other userbase, and they have the opportunity to gain more fans. Totally makes sense.
Also, if any "hardcore" Nintendo fan is doubting the 3DS, seeing one of their favorite Wii games making the jump over to Sony might make them buy a Vita instead of a 3DS.
What could possibly go wrong?!
On a side note also just started zenoblade tonight seems to be good.
But I have so many problems with Nintendo, the Wii and the 3DS, but there are great games on the platforms that I would like to see on the PS3 and PSV; because I love the PlayStation platforms. [my preference]
It would be great to have the original LKS come to PSN :D
I agree with your sentiment. And please, no lists of what's coming to the Vita, I already know, and I am not interested.
It's not a big deal though, I plan on getting a Vita at some point so it's not like I'll miss out on this.
My point is that until I see something, I'm not holding my breath for most of the games that are announced for the Vita unless they're first party Sony games.
3ds:$169.99 256mb ram, surround sound, touch-screen, circle pad, gyroscopic controls, mic, 3D and 2D cameras, many great games and backwards compatibility.
we obviously see 3ds is better
This is the only interesting one so far, from what I see.

I'll definitely get this. I hear the wii game was amazing and I'll try to pick it up once the new releases have died down.
Oh. Yeah. This is just fanboys being fanboys.
this. frankly i think the only reason why it would succed on PSV is the fact that nobody is making games for it except sony. i can count maybe 5 games from 3rd parties that aren't spin-offs or ports - even sony's line-up is full of these titles. granted that's the second game that makes me interested in PSV after Vanillaware game.
look at list of all PSV and 3DS games.
PSV - i can count on one hand games that aren't spinoffs of HD games and ports from ps3 in terms of 3rd party support. even sony's line-up is flooded with either direct or slightly updated ports(Modnation, LBP2, Wipeout, Hustle Kings) not to mention games developed for both ps3 and PSV.
3DS - more than half of it's line-up are new IPs or big sequels to DS games.
as for the graphics - LKS never was a graphicaly demanding game. in terms of visual presentation it's simillar to Rune Factory, Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing - art style over technical aspects of graphics. it could easilly be done on the wii or 3DS.
Now we just gotta hope the dumbasses don't start claiming that this one will sell much better than the one on the Wii now that it's on a "proper gaming system". Yeah, how'd NMH work out for you guys?
Keep in mind the 3ds has had like a 6 month headstart and you are probably looking a few months ahead.
Hmm psv games that aren't spinoffs......hmmmmm...well not counting little deviants of course, i'd probably say like 6 or 7.
Well clearly they must have a reason for putting it on the vita. Maybe it's nintendo's business practices, or shortages in dev kits, or maybe they just think it would do better on the vita and be cheaper to develop.
True we don't know what the game looks like, but I doubt this will get a major overhaul graphically. LKS is like Animal Crossing where it's more about art direction than it is pushing the hardware limits. I don't think there's much they can do graphically that isn't possible on 3DS while remaining faithful to the original art direction, I'm not sure why they don't just make it a multiplatform Vita & 3DS game.
I didn't mean to come off as Negative I even said I plan on getting a Vita, I don't want to be grouped in with all the other overreacting commenters. The reason it's a little confusing is there isn't an immediate reason why this would benefit from the us of Vita, but maybe this game found some really good use of the rear touch pad. I probably shouldn't have even said anything because now I look like another troll.
Negative fan reaction was easily predicted they just lost an exclusive, If Valkyria Chronicles 4 became a 3DS exclusive I'm sure many PS3 & Vita owners would be upset. Some of it is because people like to be irrational and fight the console wars like no tomorrow, the other half is generally upset because one of their favorite games is being released on a console they didn't intend to buy, so they either miss out on the experience or they buy a console they will give light use.
Overall it's great news that this game is happening, but unfortunately there's going to be some drama for a while because people lost an an exclusive, even though the main reason it was an exclusive was because it was developed for Wii controls. This game just became ammunition in the Sony vs. Nintendo debate. Hopefully this game does well and we see more multiplatform LKS games.
If anyone is truly upset that this game exist then they weren't that big of fans of the original, and only liked it because it was an exclusive. Most people should just be happy the game exist.
As for the first part, it's riddled with lies. That's all I have to say about that. If you REALLY want to prove to me what you're saying is fact, back it up with evidence. Make me a list.
Also, the PSV isn't coming out until 2012 which is at least almost a year after the 3DS came out. Compare the 3DS's game library (including To Be Released titles) today with the PSV's game library (also including To Be Released titles) an equivalent number of days after it's launch and I have a feeling PSV's will be more robust.
P.S. Don't try and call me a fanboy. I ordered a 3DS 4 days ago.
You bring up all great points. I was just pointing out how annoying it is that people are complaining that it is a Vita exclusive when they know absolutely nothing about it other than it exists. Maybe the new style will be a drastic overhaul that only the Vita (in terms of handhelds) could handle. Maybe (as you said) they found a great use for the rear touch pad. Maybe they just feel they can reach a bigger audience by releasing on the Vita over any other platform. Maybe a combination of some or all of the above. People should just wait for more details instead of making assumptions.
After rereading your first post, you were definately not one of the people I was trying to pinpoint. I can see that your comment was well-thought out and (again) you make good points as to why a game like LKS could benefit from the 3DS.
"Why is this game on the vita? I liked the first game but I hate the vita, it has no good games. Who needs all those graphics? The 3DS is better. It has games."
Then reality chimes in, there are no games on the 3DS at the moment. Nintendo made a huge mistake by not releasing with one of their core franchises on the device. Sony is not doing that with the vita it seems, it's like they're launching with all their core franchises which should get die hard fans to buy the system instead of waiting around for their favorite franchise to make the jump and get them interested. It seems the nintendo fanboys don't like sequels from other game companies because they're cash ins, but if you take the same kart racing game from 1992 and add a hang glider, it's genius as long as a particular plumber is along for the ride. Grow up please. And see the hypocrisy in what you say.
wow it must be really hard to find list of 3DS games on wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games
Yea you should probably post a list of all the new ip's just so everyone doesn't have to search through the list.
I'm similarly terrible at Pikmin.. I don't do responsibility.
