GoNintendo somehow managed to stay awake through Satoru Iwata's quarterly financial reports briefing, a feat I would probably not have been able to accomplish. Good thing, too, as the President of Nintendo confirmed that the next iteration of Zelda on Wii would be shown at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
It's no secret that I'm not a fan of the series when it goes 3D, but I at least managed to finish Twilight Princess. Whether that's down to the shiny newness of the Wii or an actual statement on the quality of the game isn't something I've given a whole lot of thought to, but I know that I'll at least wind up playing another game.
Hopefully, I'll be playing it at E3. We don't know whether the game will be playable on the show floor or if there will be hands-off demos of it yet, but I'm hoping for the latter -- if for no other reason than being able to play it just long enough to hate 3D Zelda again and move on with my life.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
YES.
I'll probably keep it around and use it to trade in toward a Wii HD or a PS4 someday.
Man, 50% of DToid has shit taste... or never played Ocarina of Time, thus not realizing they were playing an "upgraded" version of it with TP.
what happened to the E3 of 1989 when they really didn't talk at all and just showed off next years games???
Nintendo has been the worst out of the three mainly to talk a lot about how they are making money and that everyone wants a wii how happy that makes them feel, but when Reggy talks about that for 2hrs it gets really really really really long and boring.
then at the end of a 2-3 hour talking segment they show 5-10 minutes of game clips and they are done.
its like E3 they are selling hardware to the Software developers and not paying attention to the people that really made the hardware successful, and that really makes me want to pay $50 for game.... LOL not!!!
one could've said the same thing about Pikmin 3 and last year's E3.
now that this has been confirmed for E3, I am ridiculously excited for this year's E3. it's gonna be good, I just know it! :D
Twilight Princess had a fair bunch of flaws, but the most glaring one to me was the exclusion of a certain monster who previously was honoured with the "perfect attendance" award. Therefore, Octoroks or GTFO.
You do have a point, although to be fair, Pikmin doesn't really get the same amount of hype as a full fledged 3D console Zelda. Considering the fact that this one's supposed to come out this year, I thought it was inevitable.
@dip
Liking a game which has a 95 on Metacritic, (not to say that we should use Metascores to determine a game's worth, but its safe to say that a lot of people liked it) hell, liking a game AT ALL makes me have shit taste?
Go fuck yourself.
I'm excited now.
:D
I don't understand why people ask for NEWNESS at Zelda and just get hyped at God of War III, a game that's gonna be more of the same with super grpahics, HD epicness and shit. Zelda has invented things as a franchise. Others have not. So shut the fuck up you "snobish" people.
@koehler83: Spoken like a true PS3 fandamentalist
@Zimmerman: really? no 3D Zelda at all? well, here's to hoping this one changes that.
The exact opposite is true of the 3D games. I get an hour or so in and I'm just done. I just feel a loathing when I play them and I can't even begin to justify why. I know I should love them and, yet, I cannot.
Still, I ever try.
A-fucking-greed. I don't get why it gets so much hate. The three day system was great, especially if you slowed time down, which I don't think a lot of the haters knew you could do. I still prefer it to OOT, just because it's so unlike any other Zelda game.
I'd kill for another game away from Zelda, Ganon, and Hyrule, like Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask.
I didn't say I wanted to feel nostalgic about it, I said I wanted to feel the same way nostalgia makes me think I felt about ocarina of time. As in, I wanna have as much fun with this game as I remember having with OOT the first time I played it.
