Next Hitman game is already being worked on photo

Hitman is a popular enough series to warrant a movie, which I would never call disappointing for the simple fact that Olga Kurylenko is naked in it. A series with that much popularity will most likely never die. However, in the case of Hitman that might not be such a bad thing as every entry in the series has at least been decent and the simple idea of executing hits will most likely never get old. Plus, there's lots of money to be made and Eidos, the game's publisher, who are now owned by Square-Enix, seems to know this and are thus working on another game in the series.

In an interview with GameIndians.com Eidos’ Ian Livingstone simply let the news drop that IO Interactive was indeed working on another installment of the series. After being questioned about the game he said, "It’s being worked on, but there’s been no announcement on the release date yet. We haven’t even announced the game yet, so everything you hear about the next Hitman game is purely speculation at this point."

I think he basically calls his own quote speculation there, but that aside this sounds like a pretty solid confirmation that a new Hitman is on the way, but it might be a while as IO is also working on Kane and Lynch 2 and Mini-Ninjas at the same time.

Well if you beat Blood Money, you'd know this was a given.

The hitman series is awesome, and the ending of blood money ranks in the top 5 of all time for me.

As long as they keep the series open ended so that you can either kill everyone, kill no-one, and anywhere in between, I'll keep playing.

Hitman games, the one series where you truly love playing a level over and over again.

Hitman series is great, Im glad they are working on a new Hitman since Blood Money was great. I wonder if they will throw some joke like "in this recession time you have to make discounts".

Everytime a Kane and Lynch videogame gets made a videogame reviewer is fired.

How does nobody notices a bald guy in a tux with a barcode on his neck? The stupidity astounds me. But you gotta love the piano wire executions. That never gets old.

Yes! I love Hitman. Screw the sequel to a shitty game and some 'casual audience' rubbish. Agent 47 is awesome and we need more.

Let's just hope that they've been working on a new engine, they've been updating that Glacier engine for years but I think it's time it was put to bed in favour of something made for the current generation.

this announcement was LONG overdue.

i can't help but think we would have seen more of 47 had fans not given contracts such a harsh reaction. i'd much rather IO had put out a mini hitman game based on blood money than nothing at all.

I have never liked hitman, some of it was fun but it was waaaaay too linear- there were a number of missions that frustrated me because if I went in guns blazing or found other ways to accomplish assasinations even after I successfully completed levels it would just cut to fail animations, so on some levels I would have to play and beat the same level 5 different ways in order not to fail- it pissed me off

Oh man...this is awesome news. If it's even a fraction as good as Blood Money, I will buy it on launch day.

@Chronic Logic, do you question every 6ft something tall well built guy in his work clothes (or other applicable clothing) just because of an odd choice in tattoos and baldness? The stupidity astounds me.

Please don't put a baby in me.

Anyways, I've been waiting for a true current-gen Hitman game. Get to it, IO Interactive.

@RonBurgandy2010 - Good call, what a fun game.

I'm hoping they'll be able to improve Kane and Lynch, I wouldn't mind seeing those characters again. The game had its good 1moments.

Can't wait for another Hitman game! I like to kill people, and no other series I know gives me quite the same serial killer playground.

Thank God! I was worried they'd switched Hitman to Kane and Lynch! Blood Money was quite possibly my perfect game. I could even sit and watch the intro listening to Ave Maria for hours! Beautiful.

Then get in there and start setting people on fire with BBQ's and piano string killing fools.

I cannot wait for this, I don't care for reviews or opinions - i WILL buy this game.

Kane and Lynch was pretty interesting in multiplayer, i wouldn't mind another one, but it's not a scratch on Hitman.

i miss 47.
